Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read ( Read more... )

Garbed in his usual robes, Orochimaru stepped onto the deck calmly, casually. The chance that a force existed on this 'ship' that could cause him more than momentary pause or alarm was so incredibly small that for now, appearing as himself, the legendary ninja, suited his whim more than a more cautious investigation in disguise. Given the numbers of people emerging, he had no doubt that he could strip his own face and appear as the body that lay beneath without anyone finding it odd that the fellow he'd claimed had never made an obvious sight. Each person would assume that someone else had greeted him.

For now, Orochimaru was quite content to survey the crowd, and see who was unsettled by his presence.

Of all the people that also had to be on the ship....why him? Jiraiya simply cannot believe that any place would be foolish enough to allow a snake like Orochimaru free reign here. Jiraiya's cheerful behavior drops and a bit and he glares at the other man, keeping a distance for now.

Can you feel the glare?

Of course he can; it's the magic of ninjutsu. Orochimaru stops, folding his arms.

"How comforting to know that wherever you go, you can still find an old friend there."

"Yes, how comforting." He'll be watching you like a hawk...frog...frog hawk from now on. Afterlife or not, he wasn't going to let his former teammate trick anyone here.

He failed the last time. He wouldn't here. He was silently wondering if this is why they'd brought him here, or if this was his way of getting properly into heaven. You know. Where all the girl are. And just girls.

"Now why would you turn such a harsh look on me?" Orochimaru affected a pained sadness, layered over a mocking core. "Are we not allies now? We have both been chosen for some great deed. Is it not time to put old hurts behind and fight against a common foe once again?"

He didn't pretend to mean a word of it. He only threw the barbs to see if Jiraiya himself would agree, however reluctantly.

"I don't know what type of sake whoever decided you were needed for a great deed, but nowhere was it said that I had to ally myself with you to do anything." A pause. "But don't worry! I'll be watching to make sure you don't get into trouble."

He said it with such a tone that was both strangely almost cheerful yet completely condescending.

That was certainly Jiraiya. Who knew that killing Sarutobi, attempting to kill him and the nine-tails boy, and manipulating Tsunade would make Orochimaru's old friend so heartless?

"I'd hate to deprive you of your self-righteousness," he said, every bit coldly pleasant. "And yet, if Konoha has been destroyed, I want it restored every bit as much as you do. Keep that in mind."

"Of course, of course! I'm not that old to be senile either," he replied back, arms crossed. "Just remember that I'll be watching if you feel like stepping out of line."

"No doubt you still have every bit of mental capacity you always did, Jiraiya."

Jiraiya was, of course, simply acting out of his own ethics, which for some reason required him to offers such pointless warnings and drivel. They both knew exactly how much Orochimaru would care about these warnings, after all.

Satellizer had decided to give this pod pop a chance, not to bring anyone from her own world, but to see just how others acted in the same situation she had been just the previous one. After all, she wasn't in the right state of mind or level of care for much for her own.

It was then that she caught a glimpse of the odd man in the crowd. Something about him just gave off a displeasing aura.

Not one to be shaken easy, Satella simply frowned, wondering what sort of 'heroes' did this thing that called itself Stacy bring on board.

Displeasing. Reptilian. Certainly inhuman.

The scrutiny didn't pass unremarked, though. Orochimaru's head turned, his eyes locking on hers as his lips curled into a cold smile.

Of course that only served to re-enforce her beliefs that the damned ship had more than a few screws loose. Just his presence was displeasing. Satellizer however was a lady, and as such, she gave him a curt nod before placing the things she was asked to carry on the table and turning around to face the group.

In the moment she turned, he seemed to have crossed the intervening space in no time whatsoever. "You'll quite forgive me for being new to all this," he said, mockery and amusement blended smugly in his voice. "You can spare the time to explain, I'm certain?"

Closeness... not good. Satella took a step back immediately, frowning at the newcomer but trying her best to remain civil for the sake of her status as a crew member.

"If you need any further direction aside from the things on the comm, I don't mind explaining."

"Those devices are so... impersonal, don't you think?" he said, a predatory smile still on his face. "I'd much rather hear the story properly."

Satella crossed her arms over her chest and looked at him sternly.

"I'm not about to retell something that is placed there for your knowledge. But I'm not avert to answering questions if you have any."
