Me, Myself and I [Bendtime after Visitation Day is Over] [OPEN]

Sep 23, 2011 23:30

Compared to yesterday where the sensoriums had gotten so much use, Lash was glad that it was mostly quiet as she slipped into a free one. The day had passed relatively quickly thanks to running mazes, but even that hadn't gotten her as joyful as she should be, as strange and exciting as it had been ( Read more... )

Heavy was the head that commanded the losing side, apparently. Zouichi wandered on in, ignoring the explosions and bloodshed as he made his way over to Lash. "Hey. Seems like practically the entire ship is down today. I didn't expect you to be joining them, though."

You are just that perkygoth, Lash.

Today she was just goth. Or uh...down. She gave him a tiny idle wave as a greeting.

"Yeah yeah, I know. Lots of people have said that. You have one downer day and everyone thinks you've gone nuts."

"They have? I would have expected everyone to be too busy basting themselves in fresh misery." Guess who had two thumbs and thought the whole idea of a visitation day was a dumb idea?

This guy.

"No offense, of course, if you were looking forward to seeing someone, but... instead of randomly popping out a few people for a day, I think the ship would have been more prudent to keep its energy reserves for something a little more practical."

"You can take your complaints to Stacy if you want. Well, whenever she wakes up from that, anyway." Lash shrugged, pausing to watch the carnage below.

"I guess the line of reasoning is that you know they were there or something. Whatever. No one came out from my world."

"Right. I'll be sure to fill out the form." Zouichi just hoped the Warden personality wouldn't try and take over in the interim or something. Because he could totally see that happening.

"I saw a girl in the Pod Caverns the other day, just... looking for one of her friends. There are more pods in there than anyone can count, though. I think she'd been in there for days."

He gave her a curious look. "Hoping to see someone in particular?"

"Eh, the usual peanut gallery," she replied, crossing her arms. "Lemme show you."

An image of Hawke appeared.

"Actually, you'd probably get well along with him. You two have a similair personality sometimes! Bird's probably the big one but he was dead at the end of the wars so..." she shrugged. "Dunnoy if you've seen Punchy, but imagine him having a twin, and that's Jake right here. Jake's one of thos sickenly sweet hero types that will probably save your life no matter how hard you've tried to beat him up. Saved mine and Hawke's one time actually."

"A similar personality...?" Zouichi stared at Hawke's image. Okay, maybe it was possible they had a similar personality, but what was with the guy's hair? And the giant jacket? And why wasn't he wearing a hat?

"I don't think I've run into Punchy yet, actually, but I guess he must be worth meeting if he rates that kind of praise. What do you mean he saved your life? How?"

Because his hair was fabulous, would you wear a hat against that hair.

"Oh oh. Not Punchy saving my life. I meant Jake. Punchy's uh...special, from what I've read on him in the coms anyway." She gave a shrug again. "But long story short, Hawke and I got kicked out of Black Hole cause Hawke snooped around and found the new boss was actually using the crystals not just to rebuild armies but to try and achieve immortality."

It was then that Zouichi crushed his paper cup in his hand

"Immortality, huh? Sounds like the same old story. So how many people did he try and sacrifice to buy himself a little eternal life?"

God you guys you need to stop trying to become immortal it always ends in tears.

"Well technically the plan was to siphon out all of the planet's energy and life so, everyone else but them I guess. The chair stored all the energy in it. Before the final battle he used it on himself and got the strength of a hundred men and turned oozium into this huge mutant one."

Von Bolt was pretty special.

"But we kicked his ass anyway."

The extent of the selfishness people were capable of never ceased to amaze Zouichi. "Even if he'd succeeded, what would be the point? Living forever in the middle of a dead planet buried alive... buried alive...?"

"The strength of a hundred men is overrated, apparently."

"I was asking myself the same thing! Being evil can only work if you've got people shaking at your words or being afraid of you, you know? I guess maybe he wanted to go into space and conquer stuff over there, honestly I have no idea. He was old and dumb anyway."

"Yeah," he said dryly. "What's the point of being world domination if there's no one to dominate?"

No one to be better than?

"So you worked for this guy?"

She gave an undignified scoff. "For a while yeah, but only because he took over Black Hole. I liked Sturm better. He just liked War and Hated Peace. Hawke killed him when he tried to kill everyone including himself when he lost."

Her world was really weird.

"Hawke should have been the leader but then Von Bolt paraded in like he owned the place."

He raised an eyebrow. "So basically you had quite a few bosses in quick succession. Sounds like Black Hole had a pretty quick turnover rate. But why did you let all these guys take charge if they were only out for themselves? Did they do it by force?"

"Oh well to be fair, Sturm was there for a long time. He was only killed by Hawke when he tried to kill everyone," this made perfect sense in her mind. "Hawke didn't have time to do anything. I'm beginning to suspect that Von Bolt was staying in the wings, waiting for a moment to jump in and take the position of power."
