Me, Myself and I [Bendtime after Visitation Day is Over] [OPEN]

Sep 23, 2011 23:30

Compared to yesterday where the sensoriums had gotten so much use, Lash was glad that it was mostly quiet as she slipped into a free one. The day had passed relatively quickly thanks to running mazes, but even that hadn't gotten her as joyful as she should be, as strange and exciting as it had been ( Read more... )

Now someone SHOULD have been happy. Hit Girl had, after all, met her dad, talked with him, showed him her friends, and it had been the greatest feeling ever. For once, falling into Mindy Macready had been easy again: she could call her dad lame, laugh at his stupid jokes, get scolded by him again, tell him anything she wanted and feel no shame ( ... )

"Sure," she said, as the battle continued below them, Lash's army loosing more and more soldiers by the minute. There was a bit of silence before she spoke again.

"So how was your day with your father yesterday? he seemed...nice when I met him." Well-adjusted, actually. She was surprised, but she'd never tell her that.

She laughed. "Well, he was dead once. Finding out he's alive and his daughter is safe grounded him. He would have been stabbing people otherwise: don't underestimate him."

Hit Girl stared at her army getting slaughtered. "Dude...you're better off. You think you aren't, but you are, trust me."

Normally, she would have made an offhand comment about how she was interested in seeing that happen and maybe take a battle with him, but seemed to be nearly devoid of energy to want to do anything, including quirky comebacks. Yet it didn't surprise her that she was quick to guess what Lash might be asking these questions for. The wunderkind tended to wear a lot of emotions outside.

"It's not that..." she said trailing off. "I just wonder if there really is anyone from my world, that's all."

That's all really wasn't all, but it was perhaps the best way to summarize it.

"I don't know the answer to that," Hit Girl said, looking down at her hands a moment. "I don't have Stacy's mind or whatever, and even if I did, I wouldn't wanna know ahead of time. The thing is, you and I have been on this dumb ship awhile, and it becomes home whether we like it or not. So when you start to wonder about your past and people in it, it's bound to bring all the things you WERE, not are, to light."

She shrugged. "Let's say there is someone from your world though: what would you say to them?"

There was a flash of a grin, and an evil glint in her eyes for a few seconds. Blink and you barely missed it.

"Basically? I'd show them around and I ended up with all those neat stuff they don't have. Introduce them to everyone, just to see their surprised faces, considering how most of them knew me."

A pause.

"Unless it was Kindle, Koal or Olaf. They'd just get a nice punch to the face."

"See, that's why you guys are able to adapt. The worse that happens to you guys is some temporary craziness. You're used to dealing with craziness, right? They would still see how much more awesome you got. And when someone fro your world shows up, you can boast!"

She grinned. "Why the punch though?"

"Oh cause the first two threw me and Hawke out of Black Hole and were giant idiots. Come to think of it, I'd punch Von Bolt too. He's like...an old fat guy on top of a floating chair. And Olaf because I don't like his face. Also he hates me...which I guess is understandable since I blew up his hometown and all." There wasn't much remorse in her voice. She probably wouldn't do it now, but Lash wasn't one to regret things she did in the past.

She fell silent again and threw a bunch of dirt at the war below.

"...But I don' think I'll ever see anyone, at this point."

Hit girl had to laugh. "Dude, I know that the Overlord has all those demons and the netherworld and Ruffnut has all those vikings, but your stories always seem to be the best ones! Even your reasons are all nuts, like not liking someone's face! Granted, I think I may have killed assholes for less."

Being associated with D'Amico meant you had a bad death in her opinion in those days.

"Aw, why not? It's not like Stacy is smart enough to get it right the first time, right? She makes mistakes. You might find one of your guys. Anyway, it'll be less awkward than someone else. That's always good."

She shrugged again. "Kinda weird that absolutely no one showed up yesterday. I know she said she couldn't get everyone, but considering..." Considering what? "That I've been helping fix up all her weapon systems you'd think she'd care to pop out even someone I could punch just so I know people from my world are in there. I'm starting to seriously think there isn't anyone. Maybe I should just start skipping all the poddrops, they are pretty dumb anyway."

The truth of the matter did sting.

"Personifying Stacy is just useless: no one really knows what's going on in her head. If anyone deserved to meet your Cos and stuff, it was you. But this doesn't mean anything anyway: some people found some things and people out, some didn't. You never know: you might seem someone you know. If you don't, well: we're all still here, right? I'm sure we can figure something out."

Hit Girl watched the invaded armies in the distance. "It'll be better that way anyway, trust me."

Mindy why were you being so logical at Lash, it made complete sense and well..too much sense, really. She pouted before speaking, but her voice wasn't as low as before.

"Eh. You know what. I think I'll just skip the poddrops entirely for a while and if someone does get out that knows me, they'll just have to find me instead of me waiting for them. That'll teach them to make me wait!"

Mindy had already met up with her father and now he was gone. She was going to be in a weird kind of mood until she hit the bed and got to sleep the numbness away. Until then, retrospection.

"That's better," Hit Girl said. "It's not like you'll be hard to find anyway: who else has hair like yours and things exploding near you all the tie?"

"Tron Bonne?"

"Yeah seriously!" She shook her hair for emphasis. "I think I'll just stop thinking how dumb this whole thing is and have more fun while everyone is occupied just waiting in the crowded deck."

"Damn right," Mindy said. "What's the point in being sad about all of this crap anyway? Meeting people for one day is a two edged sword anyway: you get to see the, but only for a little while, and then they're gone. Better to be here with the idiots you already know, right? Anyway, it freaks me out, not seeing you direct your minions down there. They're totally helpless without you."

Hahaha Lash wouldn't really call them idiots, but friends and saying nice things would almost make her sound soft. So she did not. She looked down at the battle again and groaned.

"You know I always thought Flak was a dumb idiot but I think the soldiers might be worst." Althought to be fair, Flak had been a soldier before a CO.
