On The Prowl [closed to Daimon Hellstrom]

Jul 04, 2011 00:55

Near the entrance to Hydroponics - she had actually never ventured deeply into it - Patsy Walker sat and concentrated on a single, pale yellow flower on a bush. It wasn't a flower she could identify, but it was pretty, and Patsy figured that this was a good flower to practice her fledgling telekinesis powers on. She narrowed her eyes, wishing that ( Read more... )

As luck would have it, Patsy didn't have to look very far. Daimon had made a habit of taking Dog to the Hydroponics every day. It was good exercise for his pet, although Daimon noticed that it was getting harder and harder to chase after him. Which is precisely what he had to do that day once Dog had seen some sort of animal in the brush.

Red in the face, winded, and covered with leaves, sticks, and other brush, Daimon came into sight. He was carrying his pet and admonishing it under his breath.

"I hope you enjoyed yourself, you spoiled brat. I should never take you here again. Perhaps then you- Patsy!" Daimon's eyes went as wide as saucers and he nearly dropped Dog. "You're- you're back."

Patsy heard Daimon admonishing the dog before she saw him. Her lips parted in a hesitant smile and she waved at him. She didn't want to seem overly excited or anything. "Hi!" she said perkily. "It's, ah, been awhile." She looked down at Dog with interest. "Who might this be?"

"This?" Daimon looked down at his alien pet. "This is Dog. I forgot that you haven't seen him before. He was one of the puppies I rescued on Zokez II."

Dog chirped and struggled to get out of Daimon's arms.

"And he's not on his best behavior."

Daimon still couldn't believe Patsy was back. It had been so long since their 'marriage.'

"He's adorable, regardless," she said, reaching out to pet the little green furball. He reminded her a little of a Chihuahua that Hedy Wolfe had briefly owned before it had run away to safer pastures. "Wait. Dog? Really?"

Dog tried to lick her hand.

Daimon looked aside for one moment as he overcame his embarrassment. "I did not intend to keep him. He adopted me... besides, I have never been creative with names." His code name was the Son of Satan.

Patsy let Dog lick her hand. She then ruffled the fur between his ears before looking back at Dog's master...or Dog's pet. Patsy actually wasn't sure. "Well. I suppose it's better than calling him Spot. Or Rover. He's too small to be a Rover, though." And then, "So, I've missed you."

One thing was for sure, Daimon was Patsy's pet.

"I- I have missed you as well." Daimon said softly, forcing himself to stare into Patsy's eyes. "You have been gone a long time." And he felt every moment of it.

"Longer than I would have liked to be gone. Blame it on GLaDOS. Apparently, she likes testing and mocking me. Go figure," Patsy shrugged easily. She didn't break eye contact with Daimon, even as she petted Dog. "We have a lot of lost time to make up for."

Daimon almost choked.

"Y-yes, we do. There have been several incidents while you were held by GLaDOS. I myself was absent for most of them, GLaDOS is fond of me as well, but I can inform you of what I have gathered." He was only vaguely aware of that he was babbling.

Patsy grinned. He was so adorable when he got like this. She wondered how someone who became nervous this easily could be the son of Satan. She wasn't thinking of the incident with the runaway soul just then. "Too bad there isn't a coffee shop here. We could have made some sort of a date out of it."

Dealing with his father was one thing, talking to the woman he loved was something else altogether. "We are in a place for a romantic walk, although it seems that I am not properly attired for a date." A pause. "Or even possess the proper hygiene at the moment." Fortunately any cuts he'd obtained during the great Dog chase were superficial and had all ready healed over.

"A romantic walk sounds perfect," Patsy said. "That is, if Dog is amenable to it." They really did have a lot of things to discuss, including their, er, "marriage".

"Let us see." Daimon set Dog down at his feet. The creature ran around them in circles, looking all around before promptly sitting by Daimon's feet. "Yes, I believe he's done enough mischief for now." Which was good. Because if he'd made a mess of things Daimon would have had to kill him. If by kill we mean yell at futilely.

Patsy chuckled. Dog was adorable. "Good." She walked over to Daimon and slipped her hand into his. She squeezed it and winked at him. She knew it would fluster him a little, but she liked that. "You know, I've never really spent much time here."

Oh yes, there was a definite blush to Daimon's cheeks but he held onto her hand.

"I've spent a great deal of time here with Dog, yet I still do not know what the names of all the animals and plants are- except for the beer tree but it is hard not to learn the name of that one. Everyone talks about it." Every now and then he got the urge to burn it down.

"The beer tree?" Patsy raised her eyebrow. How had she not heard of this? Not that she was a big beer drinker, but there were nights where Patsy thoroughly enjoyed a thick, juicy cheeseburger paired with an icy cold beer. "You mean root beer, right?"
