The Hidden Village: Passing the Time

The crew had made it to the village where the Tapestry was supposedly hidden, but for now, they had to wait. According to the Rom, the path to where the Tapestry was hidden would only open once night fell.

That left them with a fairly good chunk of time on their hands, as well as a rather large Rom settlement to explore in the meantime.

Having learned her lesson from the meat-apple pie she'd made, Aqua was taking care to ask thoroughly about the flavors and cooking techniques for the various fruits and vegetables she'd come across. Already, she'd bought some citrus fruit plants similar to lemons and blood oranges, a basket of small eggplant-like vegetables and a packet of seeds, and some root vegetables similar to potatoes and yuca, along with seeds for them as well.

"Let's see," she noted. "What else do we need?" The plants were good to help continually replentish supplies, but what else could she get to extend their food's shelf life?

Aqua smiled at Ron's suggestion. "I guess so. My sister's the cook in the house, so I'm still guessing at this."

"Thank you," Aqua replied. She was generally at a complete loss in the kitchen. "I'm trying to look for any kind of food that can keep well, or fresh foods that grow quickly."

Ron scratched his chin, thinking. "Hmm. Well, cereal, peanut butter, and canned food keep forever if they're properly stored. And mushrooms, radishes, and beans grow pretty fast."

"I think I saw mushrooms and beans around here somewhere," Aqua said. "And I'll have to see about canning. I'm not sure if they have that here. I haven't seen it yet at least."
