The Hidden Village: Passing the Time

Jun 18, 2011 22:34

The crew had made it to the village where the Tapestry was supposedly hidden, but for now, they had to wait. According to the Rom, the path to where the Tapestry was hidden would only open once night fell.

That left them with a fairly good chunk of time on their hands, as well as a rather large Rom settlement to explore in the meantime.

It was rather ( Read more... )

"Celena, I believe an appraisal of the environment would serve us well," the wizard said to the dragon-in-elf-form, thoughtfully. "Afterwards we should give consideration to inquiring of the potential 'worthiness' we will be called upon to display."

And lest anyone thing they were intending to be anything less than professional about it, he glanced around. "Would anyone else care to participate? My interest is primarily magical, so having other disciplines might be of use."

"If you'd like, I can give you a brief demonstration of Double's and Seraphiel's power," Hoshi offered to Aibghalien, giving the wizard a smile.

"Perhaps, if it's needed, we can coordinate attacks based on strengths and what would be most compatible, as well?"

"It would do well to have a better look of the village and its surrounds," She replied easily, "Indeed, if this place was built solely to protect the tapestry I am sure that some of the inhabitants would know more of it, and just what 'worthiness' may yet mean,"

She gave an easy smile across to Hoshi, "Just bear in mind, they may not intend a test of 'worthiness' to be offensive power alone," She commented as she swept her gaze through the village, after all, to be worthy had many possible meanings.

"Of course I'd like to see, though the question is, can you do it while flying? And either way, did you intend to come scouting as well?"

He rather suspected this test of 'worthiness' would be brutal at best. Given the circumstances, if the crew was expected to prove 'worthy' in any sense of being able to alter the very destiny of the multiverse itself, at this point...

"Don't worry. Double's abilities aren't based solely on offensive power," commented Hoshi calmly, giving Celena the same easy smile back.

"I'm still in the process of learning more about the power from my partner, Philip, so I'm not entirely sure if Double can fly just yet," she explained. "As for scouting, I can try my best."

Celena gave a dip of her head to Hoshi, "Of course," She was curious of just what and how 'Double's' abilities worked but that was something to be saved for another occasion.

"I shall speak to some of the locals as well, see what they know," She commented as she watched one of the Rom flit from one building to the other, "If there is a market as well, we may yet be able to acquire more supplies for the ship, I've my gateway should supplies need to be rapidly transported, as long as there is no interference within the village,"

"Either Celena and I can carry you," Aibghalien said to Hoshi, and then with a nod to Wanda, "or you, if you need the help.

"Either way, four seems like enough for scouting. Shall we be off, then?"

He reached out to touch Celena's shoulder, just for the sake of the contact before they got to business proper.

"That sounds lovely, thank you," said Hoshi.

"And, yes. Let's go."

"I would be happy to carry one of you," she gave a nod to Aibghalien, giving a gentle touch in return with a smile. Taking off the backpack she set it down and stepped back speaking the command words to her ring, her form rapidly expanding as she took on her true draconic form.

Scooping up the backpack she secured it to her upper forelimb, lowering herself to allow one of them up onto her back.

Aibghlien spoke the same words. In an instant his own natural form vanished, replaced by a dragon quite similar to Celena, save that his markings were blue instead of her red.

He mirrored her gesture as well, so that whichever of the the pair didn't choose Celena could climb aboard. And gave brief thanks that Celena was not the jealous sort.

That left Aibghalien for her. Hoshi climbed up on to the dragon and smiled. "Thank you for letting us do this," she said. Now, she was sort of used to climbing on top of things because of Seraphiel, but then again, to do it to someone else made her feel a little awkward.

But, those thoughts were spared for another day, anyway.

Once Wanda had eased herself atop her, Celena lifted herself back up, "You are welcome," Giving a smile over her shoulder as she unfurled her wings.

"Ready when you are Aibghalien, hold on back there," she gave a dip of her head and crouched back ready to spring to flight once Aibghalien had taken to the air.

Not being used to taking off with a person astride his back, Aibghalien cheated; he used his flight spell to lift himself slightly off the ground, sparing Hoshi what would have otherwise been a rather rough takeoff. But only that little bit of cheating. He spread his wings, then, and took to the wind and sky properly, as if born to the form.
