Best Sleepover Ever

May 25, 2011 22:23

A good number of those affected by the clock had reached childhood, and required supervision. Several of the adults had offered to help, and no one was quite sure anymore who had first suggested it, but it was decided that one night, there should be a sleepover, something fun for the children. The idea had grown; Eva had offered Cassie's house, ( Read more... )

Kang had been extraordinarily pleased to find out that some of the children weren't all that afraid of him, allowing him to play with them in a way that he was much more comfortable with.

So, he was on all fours, lashing his tail and growling, chasing a group of them around the living room and pretending to be a bear. He was sure some of the other adults were laughing at him, but he didn't much care. He was enjoying himself, as were the younglings, and that was all that mattered at the moment.

Oh no, you nefarious ne'er-do-well. You won't be eating any innocent younglings today!

"Stand back, citizens!" Conner said, standing on top of the couch, hands on his hips. "This is a job for Superman!"

There was a mighty jump, his red cape flaring, and he tried to tackle Kang, perhaps a little too roughly for play. He was getting a little too into it.

Well, Conner was stronger than he looked, but still no match for someone as big as Kang. He easily broke away and moved back, still on all fours, grinning at the boy with a slight flaring of his wings, "You're going to have to try harder than that, little boy." Too rough to a human wasn't the same as too rough to a draconian.

That was when Kon tried to punch him in the face.

As said before, he was getting a little too into it.

Kang frowned, dodging the punch, and promptly pinning Conner to the ground, with a short growl. "No punching. Wrestling is fine, but no punching or kicking."

Conner tried his best to squirm free and kick Kang in the face if at all possible.

"Geddoff!"

"Stop," Kang commanded with a hiss, using his sons-of-bitches voice. "I'm not letting you up until you behave."

"RORY!"

"Let him up." It had been fine, up until the moment Conner had gotten uncomfortable. He'd hung back and watched, lips pressed into a thin line, but the moment Conner had gotten upset and yelled for him, Rory was involved. "He was playing too rough, but now you're scaring him. I'll deal with it."

There was absolutely no fear, and no pause in interfering with the rough play of someone nearly twice his weight class, he was clearly responsible for the child in Kang's grasp, and not willing to tolerate the child being frightened or hurt. As a father himself, Kang probably caught the obvious 'dad' vibe.

Kang let Conner up and sat back on his haunches, wings rustling a bit. "Sorry. It's how I deal with mine when they get too rough; I was careful not to hurt him. I know - I shouldn't have."

Conner got up and immediately scurried behind Rory, sticking his tongue out at Kang and adjusting his cape.

"Ah. No." He frowned, catching Conner's shoulder and pulling him back in front of him. "Apologize, Conner. Mr. Kang may have pinned you but you don't hit people when you're playing. Only when you mean to hurt them, and you shouldn't mean to hurt anyone here. It was a very rude thing to do." He nodded, keeping his hands resting on Conner's shoulders, providing support even as he offered protection and forced him to the front. "I understand, Councilor. It's likely a species divide, and for some children would be fine."

"S'rry," was mumbled out contritely, with Conner looking at his shoes the whole time.

Then he looked up at Rory, confused.

"I'm supposed to fight bad guys but there aren't any real bad guys to fight."

Kang quirked an eyebrow ridge, amused, "You don't need to call me Mr., or Councilor, when I'm not doing Council business. And apology accepted, Conner. If you want to play rough, I will, happily, but only if you don't try to actually hurt me."

"Of course, Kang." He nodded politely, giving Conner's shoulder an approving squeeze.

"I know you are, Conner. But right now there aren't any here. So we don't need to worry. Right, Kang? Now, we can play and relax and have a good time. Just take the time to have fun and don't worry so much about winning." He smoothed Conner's hair out of his face, gesture unconsciously protective. "As soon as any show up, I'll let you know."

"Okay, as long as you let me know right away. And real bad guys I can punch in the face all I want, right? That's what I'm supposed to do."
