"Yeah, this game's pretty cool," Marco said. Trying to act casual. "It's..."

Except then he trailed off. Because just at that moment, the Metling Clock stole a little more of Marco's time. Just enough that he wouldn't be able to remember who Ax was anymore...

He blinked, and stared at the Andalite. The Andalite! The only other Andalite Marco had met was Elfangor. "You're an Andalite," he said dumbly.

Ax blinked at Marco for a moment, somewhat taken aback.

< Usually, yes, > he replied. < You don't remember me? > That meant that he was going to forget the war entirely soon -- the Animorphs hadn't been fighting for very long before they'd found Ax. And he had no idea how Marco and Rachel would react to him once they'd forgotten that. < My name is Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill. I'm Elfangor's younger brother. >

Marco blinked. "Wait, seriously? Elfangor's younger brother?" he said, staring. "And what, why the hell should I remember you? Do I meet you in the future or something?"

He didn't like this, having other people remembering him when he didn't remember them.

< Yes, Elfangor's younger brother. > Ax wondered if that was still going to be how he was known after the war. He certainly couldn't ask Marco that now. < Because I was only an aristh, I wasn't allowed to join in the battle. But after the Dome ship -- the Andalite carrier ship, essentially -- was destroyed, the part that I was in crashed into the ocean, where you and the other Animorphs found me. >
