"Right," Marco said. "Your name is Tailmon, and you're a 'digimon'? I guess they didn't exactly have much creativity on hand when naming you, huh. And are you serious? A bunch of talking cats tried to take over your work?" Geez. And he'd thought the Yeerk war was insane.
He rolled his eyes. "Duh, course you have. I just happened to be older at the time. I'm Marco."
Hikari blinked, before smiling a bit. "Oh, I see. That's... sorry. And no, the other digimon that tried to do that weren't cats. They were various different type of monsters."
Tailmon glared over at Marco, but Hikari just moved her hand to keep her in place.
"So 'digimon' are...monsters," Marco said, glancing at Tailmon. "She doesn't really look like a monster. Or do you just call any talking animal-thing that?"
"I'm not the one that named them," Hikari said. "Actually... I don't know who did. But well, Digimon are creatures that come from the Digital World, which was... basically a world created by the internet. There's a lot of different types, from cute cat-things like Tailmon here to giant dinosaurs and dragons, along with even more things."
"What the hell? No way could they come from a digital world. You can't just plurk something out of the internet and have it wonder around for real," Marco said, staring. "It doesn't work like that - the internet's just data, it's not real."
"Well your Earth's rules are insane," Marco pointed out, rolling his eyes. "They make no sense. Okay, let's just assume that a 'digital world' that can contain sentient creatures made up of data actually could exist. How the hell can you still be wondering around here? We're not in a computer. If you were actually digital, there'd be nothing for you to exist in right now. At least if you came from some kind of alternate universe or dimension or whatever, you wouldn't have to try and find some bullshit explanation as to how a computer program or whatever the hell you're meant to be could exist in the real world."
"Sorry, the only one's that we know of who are actually smart enough to understand and explain how that works are still in the pods," Hikari said, frowning. "At least, if they're still alive at all."
"Hey, even if they are dead, Stacy seems to like bringing back dead people," Marco said, sounding really cheerful about this fact. "So they're probably in there somewhere. But I seriously doubt that any explanation of whatever the hell that thing is is going to make sense, because that's just plain nuts.."
Marco shrugged. "I won't hold my breath," he said, before turning back to pick up the controller for the game he'd been playing. He raised an eyebrow at Hikari, as if asking her if she was going to sit down and play the game too or go off and do...whatever the hell it is that girls with 'digimon' do.

Tailmon just sighed and turned to go get a book or something out.
