Med Bay: Part Two

May 08, 2011 16:58

With the end of Quarantine, all of the patients who'd been kept in the bubbles had been released (with the exception of those that Medical felt weren't safe to release), and brought back to the Med Bay proper. Some of them might leave, with family or friends to look after them, but others might remain in the Med Bay. Others still were only just ( Read more... )

Go Fish! [Round One: Miranda, Rory, Sakura] haruno May 8 2011, 07:40:41 UTC
Medical was in a lull for the moment, most of those still in the Bay proper asleep or talking in low voices among each other. Which left the staff awake and around to keep an eye on things for the duration.

A duration three of them were currently trying to fill in with a simple little card game. "It's a lot quieter now than when we had people over in Quarantine." Sakura looked over at her companions. "The point is to end up with matching sets of cards?"

"Do you think we'll be able to figure it?" Miranda said, biting her lip a little. "How to return them to normal, I mean?" They knew by now that a clock was responsible - Miranda still felt uneasy at the idea of a strange kind of malevolent clock, that wasn't at all like her own Time Record - but how would they find out how to stop it's affects?

"What happens if I don't have any cards that match?" Miranda asked. She should probably concentrate more on learning the rules...

It was nice to have a moment of downtime, Quarantine had been frantic. There hadn't been much time to breathe, much less spend on card game. "A lot quieter, most of the paranoid ones have left, we're just left with the exhausted ones that have nowhere else to go." It was a bit of a sore spot, letting the patients leave when they still didn't know how to fix what was wrong with them. Seemed like sending someone home when they still needed surgery. Just wasn't done. "There are quite a lot of people looking into the matter, I'm sure someone will figure out a solution, if Dr. Hussain or Dr. Henderson can't, then I'm sure the Doctor will. Together, it's impossible that they don't find a way to reverse it."

"Yeah, match four cards and then you can lay them down. And if you don't have matches, then you ask for the cards you do have for everyone else, to get the ones you need."

"Don't count us out, either." Sakura smiled, if she didn't exactly think she was going to be suffering any sudden strikes of brilliance. Between the minds already working on this, and Stacy's databanks...

"Do you know if we're asking people to report in, or if we're actively keeping tabs on the patients who've gone out?" She looked at Rory, curious.

"Sounds simple enough. If the one you ask doesn't have the cards, that's where the 'Go Fish' comes in? Telling them to fish another card out of the stack."

Silent Treatment (uh....semi-open?) eradicating_war May 8 2011, 19:15:48 UTC
((Mostly for medical staff and other Celestial Being members. Others can tag, but depending on how well he knows them and what they want, he may not say a word in response.))

Setsuna was still an involuntary guest in Medical, as evidenced by the fact that he was currently restrained to the bed and routinely pumped full of sedatives. He had been brought there after he passed out somewhere between the hangar and his quarters. The doctors hadn't wanted to treat him this way, but with his hallucinations growing more intense (which occasionally caused him to lash out at his surroundings) and his injuries (the internal ones in particular) not exactly getting any better with all of his moving around, they really didn't see any other options ( ... )

Feldt was asleep by the bed. She had been worried about Setsuna ever since they had gotten back on board and not even the Gundams could distract her right now. She had come back to the medical bay to sit with Setsuna, watching over him as the medics tried to get him to rest so that his internal injuries could heal. The others had come and gone, none of them saying much to her, but she could tell that they were concerned about Setsuna, and for her.

It was rare that she couldn't focus on her work and all of the Gundams needed to be worked on after that battle. It had taken a lot out of them and it would take her a long time, even with help, to get all the suits repaired. She was currently asleep with her head on the edge of his bed, knowing that she was within striking distance if he did so upon waking.

It took him a moment to get his bearing on where everything was, but it didn't take him long to notice that someone was there. That someone being...

...Feldt?

He frowned slightly, his heart sinking a little. Did he make her cry again?

...when has he ever made her cry before?

He thought about that odd paradox for a moment, as he watched her sleep. He then nudged her slightly, quietly letting her know he was awake.

She stirred a bit as she was nudged. It took her a minute but she finally sat up, rubbing her eyes for a moment. She hadn't been crying, but she was still worried about him. She hadn't been able to concentrate one one task for very long without getting distracted. She had at least been able to get a full damage report done for all of the Gundams so that she could begin with the repairs, or at least get the other Meisters started on them.

"Setsuna," she said quietly. Thankful he was awake. She didn't go to get one of the medical staff, she didn't trust them, even though they were doing what they could to make sure he healed. Despite the sleep, she looked tired, but at least he was awake again.

His hair is longer than she thought it would be. It surprises her.

She pauses in the doorway for a moment, wondering if it would be better to turn back and let him stay relatively at peace. She knows she looks different than he'll remember her - older, scarred - and she doesn't know what story she should give for being gone. The honest one, maybe. How do you apologize for being dead? For being kidnapped? Does he know about the Yeerks yet?

She considers walking and just waiting it out until he deages to ten years old and his age just solves these problems.

"Marco?"

For her it's only been a few days since she saw him, but she hasn't seen him like this, and she's wanted to take him in her arms since this whole mess started. So he doesn't get much chance to stare before she's rushed up to him and embraced him, squeezing tightly.

She's not Visser One to him anymore. She's not the rescued damsel to be protected at all costs. She's just his mother, returning.

"You didn't think I'd miss Mother's Day, did you?" she squeaks out through a choked voice.

He'd left for a few hours, long enough to riffle through the TARDIS and find a pair of lose running trousers with a draw-string waistband and elastic in the legs. The crew, especially Conner, were shrinking fast. And while the best suggestion might have been for them to get back in the plant suits, they were already uncomfortable enough. Putting them back into something so alien would only make them more nervous.

It was something he'd rather work around. This would help, at least for the moment until a more permanent solution could be found.

He scanned the room, lips quirking into a faint smile when he spotted his target. "Hello, Conner. How are you feeling?"

Good timing. After one last checkup, he was just about to leave the Medbay.

"'Sup! I'm fine," Superboy said. "Glad to finally be out of that hamster ball!"

He smiled. "I think everyone is glad that little part is over. Now on to the real problem, figuring out how to put it back. Hopefully sooner rather than later, though you seem to be enjoying yourself." He offered the bundle of black cloth to the teenager, giving him a quick once over. He'd gotten younger again, not by much but...it was still proceeding apace. Concerning. It was on the tip of his tongue to ask Conner to keep him informed, but he hardly knew the guy. Seemed a little forward, even if he was worried. "You're still shrinking though, thought you might need these. Not the most stylish thing in the world, but they'll adjust to weight and height shifts better and more comfortably than jeans. Just one pair, was all I could find. Well, aside from the pink pair, but I thought you wouldn't be interested in those. Could get them, if you'd rather."

Superboy snorted.

"Nah, these are fine."

He took them gratefully, and then looked taken aback for a moment, as if, for once in his life, he didn't know what to say.

"Uh, thanks," he eventually settled on. "For...you know."

He was a teenager. It was hard to admit things like this.

"For helpin' me out with all this. I know it's your job, but sitting around keepin' me entertained wasn't."
