No the real reason he spent time in the library was the fact that it was generally quiet even when there were a lot of people. People also tended to leave him alone.
Of course, sometimes something catches his mind, like a person reading a book about alternate dimensions. If what Supergirl and Superboy had said was true, then that was directly relevant to him, so he walked over to him.
