Temperance steps into the sensorioum completely expecting her lab to automatically show up. She's a little more than a bit shocked to be stepping into a junkyard. This was not what she wanted.

Her lips turn down and she looks around and it wasn't long until her gaze fell on Dean, who she didn't recognize at first because he's leaning over the engine of a car.

The closer she gets though, the more she's able to see of his profile and then it dawns on her... MULDER.

"You!" she finally says, and she looks a little pissed.

'Mulder' looks up when she speaks, and raises an eyebrow.

"Yeah, me. What's up, Brennan?"

She crosses her arms as she shoots him a rather dirty look. "Nothing... This is usually the sensorioum I use, Dean Winchester."

Oh yes, she knows your name! And she is not happy with you Dean.

Dean blinks, and... isn't really all that scared. To be honest, he'd forgotten that he'd introduced himself as Mulder to her until right now. In fact, he's actually grinning at her now.

"That's my name, don't wear it out," Dean replies, wiping his hands off with a towel. "And sorry, I didn't know."

"You lied to me. Why did you tell me that your name is Mulder?" She demands, getting straight to the point.

"Whoah whoah whoah, I didn't lie," Dean protests, and then stops to rethink. "Okay, I did lie, but it's just a name. I'm not exactly in the business of freely handing out my name to people."

Brennan's scowling at Dean. "You still lied. Why? What did I do to deserve being lied to?!"

"Hey, calm down," Dean says, half irritated at her tone. "It's not like you're a special snowflake, Doctor. I lie to everyone. It's really not that big of a deal."

"Lying isn't a big deal?" Temperance asks, her brows furrowing even more. "Since when was lying not a big deal? To me it is a big deal."

She shoots him another dirty look, deciding right then that she more than likely was not going to like this guy at all.

"I think it's exceptionally sad that you actually believe it's OK to lie to people."

"I don't know what kind of place you're from or what kind of high horse you're sitting on, but everybody lies. If you say you don't lie, you're lying." Dean shoots back, gripping his wrench tightly.

Oooh, and there's the kicker. Dean does not appreciate the fact that she thinks it's sad. That's like a personal insult, because he takes it as she feels sorry for him.

And Dean won't be taking that.

"I don't give a fuck if you think it's sad. So what, I lied about my name. It's not like it's gonna hurt you," Dean says angrily.

"I have no reason to lie to anyone. Like I told your brother, if there's something I feel someone doesn't need to know, I simply don't talk about it. But I do not lie." she shoots him a very angry look.

Don't think she doesn't notice the way he's holding his wrench. She does, and she's ready to kick his ass if he makes one move with it, and she wouldn't feel bad about doing so.

She shakes her head again, thinking that Dean is a bit pathetic. She doesn't get why people feel they need to lie, and that's not something that's likely to ever change. "That might be so, but I take it personally when people lie. I find it insulting and rude."

"Same difference," Dean snaps, dropping the wrench on the ground. As ticked as he is, there's no way he'd ever use it. Not like that. Not on a woman, or an innocent. In fact, he'd be offended if someone accused him of it.

"You know, I really hate it when people judge people without even knowing what the hell they're talking about," Dean fumes, slamming the hood of his car shut. "There's reasons I lie. I don't lie for the fucking fun of it. If you had any idea--"

But that's the thing, she doesn't have any idea, and Dean's not going to explain it. She won't get it. So he flips around and tries to calm himself down.

He really needs to figure out why he's so quick to anger these days.

"The only reason I'm judging you is because you lied to me about your name." She's quick to point out. "If you can lie about that, wht else are you willing to lie about?"

She does not take lying lightly, and she doesn't care what Dean says - he's not going to change her mind.

She shoots him another look and heads toward the exit. "Which of course leads me to wonder why I should trust anything you ever say to me again. Which is disconcerting if you think about. We're all stuck on this ship, possibly going to need to depend on the others around us... and you deliberately lied to me about your name."

Oh, that's it. Dean's had it with this. She comes in when Dean is relaxing, when he's already trying to forget why he's worried about Sam in a more positive way than drinking, and getting on his ass about lying when she has no idea what sort of things have happened?

Not gonna fly.

"I'm willing to lie about whatever keeps me and Sam safe," Dean snarls after her. "Sorry you're too detached to give a rat's ass about anybody but yourself."

"I don't care?" Temperance repeats as she stops right in her tracks. She turns to face him again.

"Well see that's where you're wrong. I do care about others. I care enough about others to risk my life sorting through mass graves of genocide just so the victims familes could lay their loved ones to rest."

She stares at him blankly. "I care enough to figure out how someone died and then enough to try to help them get justice."

"I'm sorry that you don't seem to understand my sense of caring. In my line of work... In my LIFE, I don't lie to anyone, not even when my life is at risk and don't like it when others lie to me. You can't understand that, that's not really my problem - it's yours."

Dean's reached the point where his anger's making him shake. His fists curl up into tight balls, and he stares coldly at her.

He can't remember the last time he was so angry.

"Don't give me that crap. Don't talk to me like you think you're better. I save people. I do things that the cops can't. I fucking fight your worst nightmares just so people like you can keep on living normal lives. I lie so that I don't get my ass arrested so I can keep on doing it, so innocent people don't have to die," Dean's voice is steadily getting louder, angrier.

"But right, you don't believe me, do you? Because you're so much better, you don't think that monsters exist," Dean spits out. "Guess what, lady, they do. So you can take your morals and shove them where the sun don't shine."
