They had all changed back. They had their memories again, although they still remember most of their fake lives, but those memories now seemed as hazy and false as they were

So, uh, they have to figure out if that's a portal or a horrible void of flaming death or what. Before the townspeople arrive.
Luckily, they're not entirely disorganized. Kang is the ranking away Team Leader for this mission, with Fate as his second in rank, and now they remember what the mission was: Making contact with an extremely powerful alien entity, on an artificial construct built around a star, in an attempt to implore them to join the war effort.
They landed, then there was a bright flash and then...Fairplay.
It's time to figure out what to do next--and whether or not that hissing field of energy in the air is the way out or not. Can they trust their instincts or is this yet another trap?
They don't have much time to figure it all out.

"So, what do you think we should do?" Fate asked as she approached Kang. She was staring at the floating fire with a small frown, but after a moment, turned to him.
"We could try to find some other clue to a way out of here, but if the townspeople are becoming hostile, that would be a bad idea. Splitting up would only do more damage than good."
Kang was silent for a moment, thinking, "We don't have much time, and I don't think the townspeople will be inclined to listen to us, especially after what happened with Jamie and his Geno. Hell, I had to cast Invisibility on myself to keep them from trying to shoot me."
He stared at the fire, frowning, and pointed at it. "Batin corak sihir saya."
"...well. It's not magical in nature. Nothing happened."
Poke it wit' a stick's the best idea we've got? Jono snorted, having to 'push' himself for everybody in the immediate area to hear. It was giving him a headache, frankly. We need t' start bringin' cooler stuff with us if we're reduced t' pokin' things with sticks t' fin' out about 'em.
Still, he looked at the stick for a moment. Really should get a lon'er one, if yer gonna do it. Jus' in case.
If something went wrong, Hiccup probably shouldn't be very close to the fire.
"I could try using a Wide Area Search, to see if there's anything on the other side of that portal." Fate suggested. She held up her hand, and a yellow sphere of magic sparked to life above her palm. Thankfully, even with the power dampeners, it was no problem for her: a WAS wasn't complicated magic by any means.
"It's the same size as a magical projectile, and it will provide us with visuals without having to get too close to the portal itself."
Jamie cleared his throat in an effort to try and get his voice to a reasonable level. "I've got a coin," he managed to get out. He still sounded hoarse, but it would do. He pulled a quarter out of the pocket of his coat and held it up.
"We could throw it in once that scan thing's done, aye?"
"Yes sir." Came the reply from the staff she held in her other hand. The orb shot off, straight into the portal. As it disappeared, a large screen blinked into life in front of her. And what appeared on it was...
White. That's all that the screen showed. She knew it wasn't a problem with her magic, so... the portal was a dead end? That definitely wasn't what she wanted to see.
It was a damn good thing Jayne hadn't said that out loud, or he may have ended up on the ground. Kang was not in the mood to deal with comments like that.
He frowned, rubbing at his chin. "Jamie, toss the coin in."
"Aye," Jamie replied, then moved a little closer to the fire. "Ye may want to stand back," he said to the others. No sense in them risking their skins if something went wrong, after all.
Not having good enough hearing to pick up on the mob approaching, he took a couple of steps forward and threw the quarter, aiming for the center of the flames. There was a flash, and the coin disappeared. Jamie looked to Fate.
The Geno Saurer stepped between the angry townsfolk and Jamie's crewmates, hissing a warning. Servos whirred as the massive turreted pulse lasers on the Zoid's back swivelled to aim at the mob; the guns were designed for long-range combat and Jamie wasn't even intending on really using them, but they were big and lethal-looking, and he was going for intimidation more than anything else.
"Back off!" Jamie warned, but he was audibly nervous. He didn't want to attack anyone, hoped they wouldn't call his bluff.

No, not just someone. Someones.
The mob had caught up to them.

"Drop your weapons, leave your assault vehicles and hands in the air! Now!"
They had to pin them down until the National Guard could come in. For all they knew this was the start of an invasion force.
