Hanging Out

Nov 24, 2010 22:03

When he had decided to relax a little and read a bit, he hadn't expected someone to come along with him, such as one of his newer friends. So deciding to make a day of it, Ed had created a simulation in the sensoriums of Central, and had come up with a little cafe that had been recommended to him ( Read more... )

"Of course it's alright!" Asuna replied, inviting herself along for one simple reason - to get the hell OVER...someone! Basically, she didn't want to feel this way anymore and only planned on feeling anything for him in a more protective sisterly manner.

"Thanks for letting me come along; I thought you were going out with someone else." If that was indeed the case, she'd REALLY feel like the last single girl onboard!

"Naw not really," said Ed, shaking his head. "I mean... well..." He shrugged helplessly with the whole "Winry not being there" as far as he knew.

"It's complicated. Winry and I have a weird relationship and even now I'm not too sure if she's on board right now." There were gaps in his memory, ones he suspected were because of some forgotten people, but he had a certainty he wasn't missing anything.

For the time being.

"...Oh. I know how that feels." There were gaps in her own memory, but Asuna was pretty sure she'd met up with Konoka and Setsuna months ago and then...not much else.

Ed nodded as their drinks were refilled. "At least here we can get out and do something fun. Well, after a good drink at least." He pushed the cup of milk to the side and took up his tea instead.

Asuna nodded, pushing her own cup of milk near his and started drinking her soda. "You don't consider your 'job' fun anymore? I still have that little trinket you made me." Despite what she called it, a genuine smile was on the girl's face.

Ed rubbed his head, chuckling as he set down his tea cup. "Don't get me wrong, I do like my workshop. It's new and interesting. I just never really found myself as the sit down and work type for a long period of time y'know? I've always been on the move since I was young..."

"...You too, huh?" More gaps in her memory that Asuna couldn't blame on the ship, but even though they were genuine spending time with a certain mage's mother helped a bit.

"Yeah. Al and I, that's my brother, we spent a ton of time on the road. We learned from Teacher and then we went on the road afterwards." Ed grinned as he sipped his drink. "You know, all this peace is getting on my nerves. Wanna do something else?"

"Like what, fighting monsters? I thought that was the point of this little outing - to get away from all that for a while." Asuna grinned back, not minding a little bit of downtime but if Ed really did want something else to occupy his time...

"Well I didn't think about that, maybe a walk but now that you mention it..." Ed grinned back at Asuna. "Any kind of monsters you have in mind?"

"The usual: magical types bent on controlling the world unless the brave efforts of a knight in ridiculous armor shows up to save the day." Asuna finished off her drink and got to her feet.

"The maiden won't be in distress this time, not at all; she'll be right by his side, making sure those dark forces don't do anything to hurt the stalwart knight."

"Oh sure give me the hard job," chuckled Ed as his outfit changed to a long coat and he seemed to draw a longsword out of nowhere. At least he'd put his sword stuff to good use. "Go ahead and change the scenery."

"'Course you've got the hard job...!" Asuna smirked while pulling out her Pactio card and going to change the scenery at the same time. "Looking after a 10-year-old kid is work enough for me anyday."

"Right right," said Ed as he shouldered the blade as the landscape changed to black and white, a dark dingy city with a brilliant moon overhead with no clouds. Around them, dark forms started to appear, glowing white eyes as they seemed to be half-formed. "Shadows. That helps."

Ed had no compulsion to fight anything really HUMAN like. It brought up bad memories.

"Yep; we can have that walk later, after you've saved the day and all." Asuna watched the half-formed beings appear and summoned her blade without hesitation.

Ed smirked as he spun his blade. "Alright, then lets go. Come!"

As a pack, the smoky enemies surged forward and Ed took point, his flesh and blood arm swinging down and cleaving through the first, backhanding the second and kicking out with his automail leg at the third, punting it into a wall where it exploded into smoke.
