In Chopper's mind, Hydroponics is Wonka's Chocolate Factory [closed; bendytimed to before the ball]

Tony Tony Chopper was finally ready to make sweets! He was really excited about the whole thing. He quickly typed up a message to Maydril, who he had yet to meet, and waited patiently at the entrance to Hydroponics. Making sweets shouldn't be as hard as making medicine right?

Maydril wasn't entirely certain as to what she'd need, but she gathered a few items from the kitchen at the hotel that served as Outsiders H.Q. A bowl, a pot, a few wooden spoons...and half a bag of sugar. There had been a closed one there, too, but she figured that it was best to leave it behind.

Perhaps if there was another "shore leave" at some point, she could repay what she'd taken.

It was easy to see the petite half-drow skipping along on her way to Hydroponics, a smile on her face and her supplies in her arms.

May crouched down a bit, carefully shifting her burden in her arms. She smiled and offered out a hand to the tiny reindeer being.

"I am May, yes. It is nice to meet you...what do you prefer to be called?" Not that she wouldn't call him by his full name if asked.

"I have most of what I need here, I think, but if you can find any fruit you like in Hydroponics that will stretch it a bit," May said thoughtfully as she straightened up.

"I think I shall, yes. Thank you. Besides, I dare say it might be easier to pick fruit with hands. Though I suppose you could change back once we got there, too. I am impressed--I have not yet advanced far enough in my studies to shapeshift." Though, someday.

She separated her utensils from the bowl, but all of it went into Chopper's pack. "I am emptying the bowl so we do not make a mess of your backpack. I figure we can put the fruit in it for now."

"In Servryn, any Knight who can use Life magic can learn to shapeshift. That means Paladins, like me, and White Knights. I am just not advanced enough in my training to learn to do so. Warmaster DeVeris is very well-known for his shifting abilities, for example."

A thoughtful look crossed her face. "Special fruit? That is...odd, but I do not see why that could not exist. What is it like? I do not know if it would be a good idea for me to try it, but there might be some uses for others, perhaps. Though that would be something to work on later. Now is for fun," Maydril said with a smile.

"This is your candy, so whatever taste you would prefer? I am not picky," Maydril said. "Nor do I have an aversion to anything, to my knowledge." The word she actually meant was "allergy", but it wasn't an incredibly familiar word to her in any case.

Even she was astonished by the sheer green of Hydroponics. "I have not been here often, and every time I come it seems as if something is different. Perhaps I ought to visit more."

For more than just meditation. Though Hydroponics was good for that.

Chopper picked up on what May was trying to say. At least he could go around and choose anything he wanted. Sniffing at the air again, he knew exactly what he wanted and started heading towards the scent.

"Really?? Aahh.." The blue-nosed reindeer had let his imagination run wild. Maybe Hydroponics is always changing because there's some sort of monster hiding in it and changing things! He was visibly spooked. It didn't help matters that he could smell many strange, new scents and some things that smelt really bad. As long as he stayed away from the bad smells, he figured he'd be fine from the boogey monster.

She kept up the pace fairly easily. Though, that may be because she'd chosen not to wear her armor or carry her weapon with her, just the candy making supplies.

"I think it is because I keep finding new things," Maydril said. She was aware enough to realize that Chopper had gotten spooked for some reason, but not enough to realize that it was inadvertently her fault.

The half-elf gazed curiously up at the tree. She'd seen citrus fruits before--at least from a visual assessment of the skin texture, she assumed these were a sort of citrus fruit--but never this variety.

"So what are these? Should I know anything about them?" Maydril wasn't entirely sure that there weren't monsters in Hydroponics...or at least creatures she'd never seen before, and while she didn't want to frighten Chopper with an answer, she didn't want to lie to the little fellow either.

Best to be silent then...and try to distract him with purpose!

... And he fell for it. The sight of the tree was nostalgic for him and it made him excited. Seeing the mikan tree, he could easily pretend that the rest of the crew was there with him. It smelled like Nami. He knew his friends had to be sleeping in the pods, especially if he and Ace were on board.

"This is a satsuma tree!" Stacy's translator kicked in. "It's sweet and seedless. It smells ripe, so we should be able to eat them!" He changed into his human form, his limbs quickly, but steadly growing bigger. It ended with him standing on two feet, retaining his blue nose and pack still on his back. Chopper in his Heavy Point easily towered Maydril.

"Do you want to try one?" He was grinning.

I need more icons. Well, eventually, right? :) drowpaladin October 19 2010, 17:22:56 UTC
"I do, I have never had one of those before. I have never even seen one!" Likely because they had never been imported to Servryn, and they hadn't trickled down to the Knights at the Embassy, reserved for those deemed more important.

"I think I will leave the picking to you! It will be easier!" Especially since he was so much taller than her now.
