Leon was, somehow, 900 kajillion light-years away from everything and everyone he ever knew. But what was he doing right now?

Walking through a ruined city that was crawling with raging infected in an attempt to locate and rescue any survivors. Again. Not that this work wasn't his stock and trade, but one would think that fate would have something ( Read more... )

The Brig notadamndemon October 2 2010, 23:32:07 UTC
There were definite disadvantages to being stuck in the brig without an omnicomm. For one, Sam had no idea what was going on. Or why Dean was currently missing, though he figured GLaDoS had something to do with THAT.

That there was something going on, though, he couldn't exactly miss. And that put both him and Schmuz on edge. Which made him up and pacing.

At least the brig was well-built. Sam, Schmuz, Bobby and anybody else that was in there were quite safe.

Sam wouldn't be alone for much longer. There was a pair of steady, well pronounced footsteps followed by shuffling ones that sounded more like a dog. Just who these footsteps belonged to was revealed when Daimon Hellstrom opened the door to check on those inside the brig. His alien dog peered inside and started making an odd chuffchuffchuff sound as it approached Sam.

"Dog." Daimon intoned and it dutifully stopped in its place. With that taken care of, the Son of Satan turned to Sam. "Are you all right?"

Sam paused, turning as Bobby rose from the bed and jumped down beside him. At least one of the last things Dean had done was allow the alien pup in to keep Sam company in the cell.

"Yeah, fine. I mean, nerves, yeah. Atmosphere feels like it's changed." He didn't want to think too much about what that meant for him. He'd always been good at knowing when things were going wrong. "What's up?"

There would be no easy way to say this. Not that Daimon would have bothered to find one in the first place.

"A disease that saps the mind of its ability to reason and causes unprovoked episodes of rage has overrun the City. Those of us who remain uninfected are being evacuated."

"Wait, what?" Sam stared for a moment. "That...how did that happen?"

It sounded like that Croatoan virus. But why would it be showing up on the ship?

"I do not know." Daimon admitted. "Do you know how I can release you?"

"Sorry, it just...sounds a little too much like something I ran into back home." Bad, bad something he ran into back home.

"Uh...I don't know where the keys are," he said, walking over to the door. "If I had a lockpick set, I could probably manage it." Which...was why he didn't have a lockpick set.

There was a noise like a sigh from one of the other cells and a pair of golden eyes blazed to life in the shadows. Jonas stood up and straightened his shoulders, regarding the two of them with a blank expression.

"[Is there a safe evacuation route?]" he asked Daimon, as he approached the bars -- and then simply passed through them, briefly intangible. He brushed past Daimon and pressed a fingertip into the lock on Sam's cell door. A little shape shifting ought to easily take care of the problem.

Daimon briefly arched his eyebrow at that trick. "We are to wait in either the Vatican or the Precinct. Normally I would leave on my own but I've no wish to be mistaken for one of the diseased, nor would I want to encounter them. I cannot guarantee my- the dog's safety."

"That's pretty useful." Talking about the shapeshifting trick. Sam bent to pick up Bobby. "If I zone out, just grab my arm and keep me moving. I have trouble walking and listening to Schmuz at the same time." He hadn't really needed to do it before. "I'd rather go to the Vatican, personally. But that's because I've seen way too much of bars for right now."

The lock clicked open and Jonas stepped to the side so that Sam could leave his cell.

"[Would you like me to accompany you there?]" he asked Daimon, tilting his head to the side. "[I doubt that I am at risk for catching the disease; so unless you request the extra protection, I would prefer to remain in my cell.]"

"We do not know the manner in which this disease is transmitted. Either we all stay to await evacuation or we all leave." He bent down to pick up his dog, stroking behind its ears. "I believe we now have a better chance, if we all keep a close eye on who might be approaching. If my- the dog," He kept making that mistake. "Is harmed I cannot guarantee that I will be in control of my darksoul."

"I think sticking together may be the best idea." Okay, so Sam was a little wary of the kid. That was more because of Schmuz in his head than anything else. "I'm still a fan of the Vatican, though if you guys would prefer the precinct, I'm okay with that, too."

"[I have no preference,]" Jonas said with a shrug. "[I have no desire to force the two of you to remain in danger, so I will accompany you to where ever you choose.]"

He could brood just as easily in the Vatican or in the precinct as he could in his cell, after all.

"I also prefer the Vatican. Shall we?" Daimon kept holding his dog. It was dangerous out there, after all.

That was the reason Sam was keeping hold of Bobby, too. He ruffled the pup's ears and nodded. "Let's move. Quickly, while there seems to be a lull."
