It was one exhausted, tired, alien puke-covered, acid blood-burnt group of people that trundled out of the hangar and into the ship proper. Their mission? Had sucked. Their intel had been wrong. Their lives had nearly been forfeit

Leon had mentioned that there would be the need for patching up after the situation with Kawalsky and Cassie, so Katara had come here, willing to help. After her talk with Billy she felt a little better, but not much. She was still thinking about what would be done for morale, and what SHOULD be done in the future when fighting foes like these. She would be ready, she swore it to herself.
But for now, people needed patching up, and she was at medbay, scrubbed up and ready to help.

Stoick grunted as he wearily made his way down to medbay. He was one big solid bruise except for places where the acid blood had burned his arms. He cradled his shield arm against his body, fairly certain he'd broken it, and walking gingerly to prevent unnecessary pain. Viking he might be, impervious to pain he was not.
Still, he nearly stumbled and was grateful for Kang's support at his side. At least Hiccup seemed to be alright.

Kang was easily able to support Stoick, being no light-weight himself, though he did wince slightly. He had a few minor injuries, mostly scratches, but he had also twisted his ankle at some point in the tunnels.
"Take care of him first, Katara. He's got the worst injuries."
She hadn't expected one of the injured to be in this manner, but then she also hadn't expected someone so...BIG. What was more alarming was the wounds she saw all over him, and she wondered what exactly had happened that had injured him so. She's already noted where the wound was: being observant was necessary as a fighter and a healer.
She walked over to him, her pouch at her side, and guided him over to one of the beds. "Lay still. It will be a few minutes to do this."
Re: MedbaystoickthevastSeptember 5 2010, 02:53:27 UTC
Stoick glanced dubiously down at the healer, but he really didn't have the energy to refuse. He sat down heavily on one of the beds, biting back a yelp as he jarred his arm.
"...A few minutes to do what?" Maybe to fix a splint to his arm. He'd had those before, though not often. Both his arms however sported burns quite liberally and a small part noticed that his fur coat had also not faired well despite its thickness.
"Be careful!" Katara exclaimed, trying to sit him down as gently as she could. It was bad enough that catastrophe had happened on the ship, THESE guys didn't need to be mishandled. "Don't aggravate your wounds."
Oh. Yes. She might have to explain what she was doing. "To help make you better," she said, opening the pouch and pouring some water onto her hands. He was pretty badly damaged, and she was sure it would have been difficult for someone who was only just starting to get the hang of the idea of people this damaged.
She allowed the water to gather around her hands, and a soft blue glow came soon. "Relax," she said, ready to start.

Stoick took her words to heart and forced himself to relax. Not an easy task when her hand glowed blue. In spite of himself, his eyes closed. He was exhausted--fighting those creatures had been far more draining. Dragons, he'd take those any day over the accursed creatures back in the mine.
She could sense the uncertainly, and she almost grinned there. The first time she'd healed her own wounds had been just as astonishing, to ins she had a power that could help others in a non-aggressive way, the way she wished people COULD be even though they weren't. Thinking of this, she spread her strength a bit farther, concentrating on his wounds in her minds' eye.
Re: MedbaystoickthevastSeptember 5 2010, 03:29:44 UTC
He almost didn't realize that it was working, at first; but gradually his breath came easier and the unconscious gritting of his teeth eased.
After a fair amount of time, he breathed a sigh. The pain had been replaced with sort of numbness or perhaps it only felt that way since he'd been accustomed to the pain.
Katara didn't stop until she was sure that she was going farther than just a temporary healing. Only an idiot would have ignored those kinds of wounds, so she made sure that he was done all over before she addressed him.
"You'll have to sit out for a little while. It gives time for the wounds to heal, but I'm thinking you might know that. You look like you've seen a lot."
Katara had never met a viking (sorry Ruffnut, you;re not as big!) like Stoick before.
Re: MedbaystoickthevastSeptember 5 2010, 03:44:05 UTC
Stoick cracked half a smile at the comment. "I've seen a fair amount. Dragons do that." A pause.
"And I'll try to take it easy." It wasn't in his nature to sit back and let others do the dirty work when he could do it himself. But not giving enough time for injuries to heal could also be detrimental. "You should probably go see to Kang now." It hadn't been lost on him that Kang had been favoring his foot.
She nodded, laughing a little. "You sound like Ruffnut, with this thing about dragons." Not that she would object, learning from Aang about the dragons he'd seen, and how they'd been. "Just be careful, will you?"
She looked concerned here. "What?? Why?! Is he hurt?! Did someone try to do something to him? Is he all right?"
Re: MedbaygovernorkangSeptember 5 2010, 03:53:28 UTC
"I'm fine. I just twisted my ankle, is all," Kang reassured them, having already shot off a brief message to Command about their return. "Take care of the others."
"I see." Oh, she saw, to an extent, and was more than a little furious. They made Kang injured. She wouldn't forget it, but she would now, temporarily.
"I'll watch over him. Is there anything else you saw?"

She wouldn't need Negi's artifact, not yet.

"Thank you," he murmured as the pain ebbed.
