A pod burst open in a spray of slime, and a bulky figure dropped out, much larger than the average human released from the pods. But as the figure stirred and began to move, it became clear that most of the bulk came from a large set of wings on its back. The wings snapped outward once, then again, spraying goo in all directions. The figure coughed repeatedly, and slowly, precariously, she got to her feet.

Setsuna Sakurazaki groaned, bringing both hands up to wipe away the slime from her face. What on earth had happened? Her last coherent memory was of her bedroom on one of the Ala Alba's ships, after preparing for the assault on Cosmo Entelecheia's secret base... And now she was here, completely naked (a situation unfortunately more familiar than she would have preferred) and covered in goo (this was unfamiliar, and she wished it had stayed that way), in this strange, dark, almost living chamber ( ... )

Reimi heard the call. Japanese terms. She was intimately familiar with it being Japanese herself.

"Excuse me miss?" inquired Reimi as she approached Setsuna. What gorgeous wings... "Are you looking for anyone as I am?"

"Eh?" It took Setsuna a moment to shake off her confusion and suppressed worry to realize that someone was addressing her. She turned toward Reimi, wings curling in front of her a bit, almost protectively.

"Ah, I-I am," Setsuna stuttered. "I just... awoke here, without my associates and..." She took another look around the chamber. "This is definitely not Mundus Magicus, is it...?"

"I'm afraid not," replied Reimi, wishing she had wings to curl around her body. "The telepathic communication said we're on some kind of rescue ship. I think. It's all conjecture at this point."

"Forgive me, I'm Reimi Saionji, from Earth. Are you one of the women of Roak? A Featherfolk? Your wings remind me of Sarah's."

And she bowed politely.

"Communication? Rescue ship? Who --" This question was enough to catch Stacy's attention, evidently. Setsuna's eyes widened briefly as she too received the ship's communique. She was no stranger to telepathic messages, but rarely had they come from a... creature like this.

At her mention of the wings, Setsuna blushed, as if she'd only now realized they were there. Should she pull them in -- no, there wasn't much point, was there? Reimi had already seen them. Setsuna pulled herself together enough to return the bow. "S-Setsuna Sakurazaki, also of Earth. I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with 'Roak', or the Featherfolk you mention."

A girl with wings? From Earth? Somehow Reimi found that to be very likely.

"Are you from a parallel earth then?" inquired Reimi curiously. "I know of them, well, one at least. It's where we found and rescued Meracle from."

She paused. "What was the date of your world? Mine was SD 10. Er, 2097 I mean. In the old calendar."

"Parallel...?" Setsuna had to admit it was an interesting possibility. "I have had no personal experience with parallel worlds myself, Saionji-san, but it is certainly possible." Mundus Magicus didn't really count; it was its own world, just one in a different dimension from the reality she had grown up in.

Setsuna's eyebrows shot up at Reimi's admission. "2097? I see. On my Earth it is currently only 2003."

"2003... nearly sixty years before World War Three..." said Reimi, thinking of those dark days. She pushed the memory of the violent episode she had with radiation poisoning aside.

"I see... then maybe we really are from parallel worlds." Her lips quirked in a smile. "I'd like to be of any help Sakurazaki-san. Well, as much as I can be in this strange place."

World War Three? Now there was a heartening thought, Setsuna thought in a brief moment of sarcasm. "That would seem to be the most likely explanation," she said aloud. "Ah... Thank you, Saionji-san. And please allow me to extend the same offer to you."

Setsuna glanced around; more and more people were emerging from the pods. "I hope my friends are alright as well. I'm looking for..." A lot of people. Setsuna was looking for a lot of people. What would be the easiest... aha. "Anyone who recognizes the name 'Mahora Academy' would more than likely be one of my associates."

"Hopefully we can find someone who matches that description," said Reimi, nodding with a little smile. "I'll keep a lookout for anyone who responds to that statement."

"Is Mahora Academy your school back on Earth?" inquired Reimi curiously.

"Thank you. In particular, if you see a young woman around my age and height with waist-length black hair, who answers to the name Konoka Konoe..." A brief jolt of terror, that might have shown on Setsuna's face. What if Konoka was not... No. She couldn't think like that. She had to have faith in her partner for now.

Setsuna merely nodded in response to that question. And in return... "Is there anyone you would like me to keep watch for in return?" she asked.

"Several, but let's cut it to the minimum. Um, a woman named Sarah with wings like yours. A little precocious girl named Lymle, brown hair. Edge of course, a blonde young man and lets see... ah, maybe Bacchus who is a tall alien in green armor, and Faize. He's got pointed ears and green hair." She blushed. "That's a lot of people and I haven't even counted Myuria, Meracle, Crowe..."

"I'll keep a look out for your friend Sakurazaki-san."

Setsuna listened very carefully, committing each of these short descriptions to memory as best she could.
She chuckled at Reimi's blushing statement. "To be honest, if I were to describe to you all of my associates who might possibly be here... I might almost wear out my voice from over-use."

Setsuna nodded and bowed low, the height of politeness. "Thank you, Saionji-san. I am in your debt."

Reimi bowed back. War-torn post-near apocalypse she may be, but she was still Japanese. "You too Sakurazaki-san. I'll make sure to keep a look out for anyone else who may know or heard of your school."

"Thank you. And I, of course, will let you know if I come across any of your associates." Setsuna turned to look out at the towering chamber. "I believe I will continue to explore this chamber," she said, half to herself, "before I continue on to the upper level. Perhaps I'll find someone that way."

"Alright. I'm going to look around a little more, and see if there's any more people who need assistance," said Reimi. "Take care Sakurazaki-san."
