Shop 'Till You Drop! [SO VERY OPEN]

It was nice to be out on solid ground, to breathe fresh and salt-tinged air, and to feel the real warmth of the sun on her neck and shoulders, Nanoha thought. She felt a very deep urge welling up within her breast to just take flight, to soar through an actual sky in the first time in months - and she had no doubt that she would ( Read more... )

Ye Olde Music Shoppe (Only, you know, not actually spelled that way) psi_flames June 12 2010, 21:27:21 UTC
Jono wanted real clothes. Jeans and some t-shirts. Anything that didn't pulse, though he was almost used to it by now. Didn't mean he necessarily liked it after so long without one of his own.

But that could wait until he made the big purchase. Because he wanted to be absolutely certain he had the money for something major. Something he hadn't been able to find in W&P for whatever reason.

He wanted a guitar. Everything else could wait. Which was why he'd tracked down the music shop, stopping in the doorway to just stare at all the instruments on the wall. Blimey, he muttered.

Kate was also looking for more real clothes and food. Food that could hold up being stored. Because even packaged and canned food beats slop any day. She found a cello there, but it wasn't hers. Not really. She wanted her own, plus a bow, a stand and sheet music.

She almost bumped into Jono because of her focus toward the stringed instruments.

"Oh, excuse me." She then eyed the wall, "Wow... nice selection."

Aye. Was thinkin' the same thing meself. He knew Kate because they'd been on the ship together so long. He didn't know her well, mostly because he was a bit anti-social, but he knew her. Not sure I recognize some of 'em, though. Suppose 'at has t' do with it bein' a multi-dimensional resort.

Kate nodded, she likewise knew him, knew him mostly as being with Xavier's group, and so they haven't spoken much, "Probably have to test them, see what sounds familiar."

She gave a small grin as she added, "Didn't know you're really into music too."

Well, they got some stuff what looks familiar. 'At's a good start. Jono stuffed his hands into the pockets of his leather coat. The only thing of his, other than his wallet, that had come with him from their world.

He glanced over and chuckled softly. Love it. Taught meself how t' play the guitar when I was still pretty small. Even 'ad a band back in London.

Kate nodded, "I play the cello, been studying for years. Was hoping to go to one of the music schools in New York eventually after high school. But..."

She shrugged, and tucked some of her hair behind her ear, "What style of music did your band play?"

Never reckoned I'd go t' school fer music. Or much of anythin' else. Jono really wasn't the college sort. Bet you would've been good for it, though. She'd always struck him as being a lot more together than some of them.

He glanced over, then back to the wall. Punk, mos'ly.

"Thanks, you haven't heard me play. And hey never know."

Kate considered that and nodded, "Not bad, would have liked to have heard you guys." She liked a variety of music. She knew a musician shouldn't limit themselves.

Jono nodded. Could always fix 'at. He liked hearing music. Even if it wasn't his normal type.

Would've liked fer you t' be able to. Unfortunately, we kin'a broke up when this 'appened. He waved his hand at the suiting up over his chin.

Kate nodded knowingly at that, she couldn't understand from personal experience. But what Teddy and Billy have dealt with.

"Right, and it's ok. At least got some of my teammates here. Still could find a way for another band maybe? I know it wouldn't be the same. Maybe ask around on the ship?"

He thought about that for a moment and nodded. Suppose it wouldn' hurt t' ask. Mos'ly jus' play with a band in the Sensoriums. A pause, then, In Wembly, a lotta the time.

Hey, he'd wanted to be a rock star. That was one of the things rock stars did.

"See there you go." She walked over to one of the instruments that looked pretty close to a cello, and asked one of the clerks for her to take a look at it. Good thing there was an area to test the instruments out.

It was a very good thing. Jono let her go first, though, looking through the instruments with an ear toward what she was doing. S'pose it's t' be expected 'at they don' really look much like what you'd get back on Earth.

Expected, sure. Didn't mean Jono didn't want a good old Fender, though.

"No, but as long as they sound the same way. Can at least adapt." This one seemed to have more strings than what she was used, and extra tuners. But hey, it looked pretty close. She found a spot she could sit down with a bow, and drew it across the strings a few times. Testing out the sound and the chords. Checking the tuning as well. She then played a few notes of a piece she remembered playing at the Interlochen camp.

Jono tilts his head at the sound, concentrating on just listening for a moment. Yer good.

Kate smiled back at that, "Thank you, but like I said, lots of practice." Still the talent was enough for the national arts camp to take interest in her in the first place. She also picked up her archery there.

She decided to go ahead and play a full piece, still adjusting for the extra chords.

"This is going to take a little getting used to. Harder to reach some of the chords."
