Off-Hours [OPEN]

Yes, Leon did occasionally take a day off. They were few and far between, but even he had had no intention of working 24/7. Since there was, for the moment at least, no impending crisis hanging over their heads, he could afford to take off an extra day or two here and there ( Read more... )

Breaks? What are breaks? Samus knew nothing of these so called periods of rest. She was a busy woman.

Her patrol happened to take her to this part of the city. She knew about the Drunken Dragon, but had always seen it rather empty unless some sort of social gathering was going on, which was obviously not the case at this moment. The light from inside caught her eye, and her interest was piqued. A short investigation to find out who was in there wouldn't hurt anyone. She opened the door and peaked her head in.

There weren't a whole lot of crew members in there, just a handful off people milling about. Including her own boss.

He tended to sit where he could watch all the entrances and exits so he noticed someone poking their head in. When he saw it was Samus, he raised his beer towards her a bit, a quiet 'Hey'.

Well, she hadn't really expected to see her boss there. She nodded in greeting before realizing she probably looked kind of stupid with her head only through the door. She stepped inside and made her way over to him.

"So you're not always working," there was almost a hint of amusement in her voice. Almost. Also what is hypocrisy? This is coming from the queen of workaholics.

"I usually am, but I'm trying this new thing today. It's called Re-lax-ing? I think," he stated, as if he had only learned the word moments ago. "They say its good for the soul."

He motioned to the seat next to him. "Care to try it for a little bit?"

"I'm not sure my boss would appreciate me ditching out on my duties," she sounded completely serious, but Leon would know it was a joke anyway. It was her strange way of expressing familiarity.

"But I suppose I can take a few minutes," and she sat down.

"I have it on good authority that he won't mind," he responded.

"So how is everything?"

She ordered herself a drink. Nothing fancy, just a beer. Same as her boss.

"Relatively slow for once," it was a new thing for Samus. "You?"

"Same here. Mostly I only have a mountain of paperwork to go through." He shook his head.

"I really wish I could deal with that by shooting it." That's how he dealt with most of his problems.

"I don't envy you," she was fine just fielding the mission reports.

"I actually have tried shooting paperwork. I was trying to make a point," she was also 14 and incredibly frustrated with never being assigned any jobs in the federation. "My CO wasn't happy."

It was a rather odd memory to share. But there it was.

Leon chuckled a bit. He honestly had little trouble imagining Samus charging up her arm canon and unloading on a pile of paperwork.

"What did your CO end up doing in response?"

"He was a little shocked at first. Then angry. Then he laughed," Oh hello drink which she has finally received. She took a sip, "He made me do more Pirate observation for punishment. I got out of the paper work, though."

Leon grinned and shook his head a bit.

"I don't think I could ever gotten away with that." Though he had been tempted to try every now and again.

"I used to make my co-workers do a lot of my work. Until finally I got assigned someone who handle all of that for me. Which was great; as crazy as it is sometimes, I'd rather be out in the field doing something, than sitting behind a desk."

"I was a bit... daring back then," Back then? What about now? "Always questioned my superiors and was never happy with my tasks or the busy work they doled out. When we did get out, I worked hard to be better than everyone else but... turns out I make a much better bounty hunter than a soldier."

"Well, as far as I'm concerned, you've been outstanding," he told her honestly. Security wasn't exactly the military, but damn close. And he was definitely glad to have her as part of his department.

"So you must make one hell of a bounty hunter."

Samus wasn't really one to brag, but she made an amused sort of 'hmn' taking the praise. She was good at what she did. She knew that. There was really no sense in denying that.

"A couple of my targets have some trouble staying dead, but other than that, if you want something taken care of, I'm your woman," Just, you know, don't get upset when she determines the only way to finish a job is to blow up your space station.

Considering that Leon has previously razed a whole village to the ground, he probably wouldn't complain. Much.

"I'll keep that in mind."
