It was far from the only place in the city that had been scarred by the battle with the Nightmare King. Pieces of buildings lay crumbled all around, the streets were strewn with debris and navigating the city was... hazardous.
But this building - this one was special, at least to the small black cat curled into a ball on the ruined front steps.
The beautiful Tiffany glass of the clock on the main facade had fallen, shattering on the ground and leaving large pieces it shining around. The statues lay haphazardly around - Heremes' head had rolled away until it fetched up against one of the walls. The grand marble steps were cracked right down the middle, and any glass that had been around the building was broken as thoroughly as the clock face.
Rhiow was curled up awkwardly on the front steps, one of her forelegs held away from herself stiffly. Its fur was singed, a testament to the somewhat caustic blood of the creatures Rhiow had been blowing up in the main offensive. Her ears were tilted backward, her eyes closed, and she shivered.
My last piece of home. Why did it have to be here?
