Along approaches a man holding a certain star-spangled shield that may be familiar to a few people there. Unfortunately, the hero who usually wields that shield isn't the one who is holding it.

Leon S. Kennedy, the Chief of Security, has it. For now, anyway.

He noticed that he and the people he met up with along the way weren't the first to arrive. And likely wouldn't be the last. At the least, everyone could take a brief moment to rest, regroup, and forge ahead for the final confrontation to the Nightmare King.

"Uh, thanks...," he responded, glancing at the shield. He had held on to it mostly caused it proved useful. That it might actually mean something to her hadn't really entered the equation. At least not until now.

Leon didn't quite cringe at the name, but his face shifted a little, as if he just give a sour aftertaste in his mouth.

"Captain... America?" The image that came to mind wasn't exactly a pleasant one.

"That's good, especially if he's running around with something looking like this," he said, indicating the shield. He'd really hate for the guy to be some kind of well meaning redneck like USAgent.

Claire had kept a very simple list of goals in her mind. Find her family, kick Nightmare King ass. She'd prefer it in that order but if it had to be the other way she could work with that too. And she'd made sure those that she had run into along the way made it safely.

Upon arriving, and seeing they thankfully weren't the first people, Claire gave herself a moment to breathe, and locate familiar faces. Leon was at least extremely easy to spot, what with that big "AMERICA #^@& YEAH" shield. She smiled, walking towards him.

"Leon!"

There was a sense of relief when he saw Claire. He had been worried about her and Sherry, though he kept himself focused on the task at hand. But knowing at least Claire was okay took some of the weight off his shoulders.

"Hey, you," he greeted with a hug.

She hugged him back, breathing deep while letting the relief of it being him seep in. It probably wasn't the best time, but she wasn't at a point of caring a whole lot. Which would explain why a moment later she leaned back enough to kiss him, before smiling again.

"Can I just say I'm really glad you're not an asshole?"

Despite the situation, that actually made him laugh a little. He wasn't really caring about whether or not it was the best time either. Today was hell, he was going to enjoy this little slice of heaven.

"Yeah. And if I ever was, I know you'd give me a swift kick in the ass for it."

Claire smirked at that.

"Damn straight I would." And just for good measure she kissed him again. Then she cast a glance at the red-white-n'-blue shield, arching her eyebrows and looking back at him. "So what's with the shield? Are you trying out some kind of American Gladiator thing?" ...Which would actually be kind of hot, now that she was thinking about it.

"More like trying out some kind of superhero thing," he told her. "It apparently belonged to some guy who called himself 'Captain America.'" And, yes, he does think that name is rather silly.

"I picked it up while helping to pull Wanda--" he nodded his head towards the Scarlet Witch, "--out of her nightmare. It came in kinda handy so I figured I'd hold on to it for a bit."

Her eyebrows got a little higher at the name Captain America, but she didn't say anything, following his indication towards the Scarlet Witch before looking back again and nodding her head slowly.

"Huh. Okay. I guess anything useful is gonna be an asset, here." Too bad her dream hadn't exactly produced anything beyond mental trauma. At least she still had the gun Leon had given her. "You're not going to start running into phone booths to change, though, are you?"
