Grif's been having a hard time sleeping, but that's not news. Everbody's been having a hard time sleeping. It bothers him, because the more time he spends awake the more time he spends thinking about it and the more geeked up he gets over it, and the more tired he is and the worse the dreams are. It's a vicious cycle, and he can't figure out a way

"What the hell is this?" Scout has found a controller and is looking at it strangely. This is way beyond entertainment in the late 1960s.

"A video game. Of awesome." Grif replies without looking. Clickity clickity clickity goes the controller. Grif's kind of got a problem with selective attention to details sometimes, while he's picked up that the Scout is a bit more old fashioned than himself it doesn't really register in his head that his roomie might not recognize this.

"A vidyawhatsit? Gonna have to be more specific, dude."

Seriously, his time doesn't have Pong yet.

"A video game. What, they don't have video games where you're from?"

That's mostly meant to be sarcastic. He has no idea this is the case. Grif is clearly very awesome when it comes to observation skills.

"No f^&$*!@ s&*%. That's why I've been asking, so tell me what a God damn video game is already."

"It's a game you play with a TV. Like this," says Grif as he mows down several misshapen and nasty looking creatures.

This is a perfectly good explanation, from his perspective.

Clickety clickety clickety click.

"Uh, sure."

Grif hauls up the pause menu, saves his file, and quits. The title screen pops up, looking grim and unfriendly and futuristic.

"You should do the training thing first," he says, setting the controller down on his chair as he vacates it. This should be fun to watch.

"How hard could it be?" Scout plops down in the chair, taking the controller in his hand. He starts up his own game, picking he hardest difficulty level to start. His confidence is showing.

He's immediately ambushed by the typical video game futuristic enemy sort of thing. He has absolutely no trouble taking care of them. Apparently, Scout is naturally talented when it comes to FPSes.
