"Actually, the ship does have regular food. It is, however, limited, and until we are able to get more supplies it's limited to being accessed only every couple of days." Said the Middleman, carrying his own tray of grayish goop.

"Sorry about that. On the upside it's formulated to the exact nutritional needs of each crewmember."

"Really? Well I guess that's okay," pouted Rein as she spooned up a giant spoon of goop and slurped the end of the spoon. "It's... not really good but it's filling."

Waggling the giant spoon and fork around, the little girl looked up at the Middleman and said, "I'm Rein. Nice to meet you Mr...?"

"The Middleman. Just the Middleman." He said with smile.

Rein nodded. "Nice to meet you too Middleman," smiled Rein. It was either a title or a codename. Either or, it was pretty cool.

Slurping up a little of the goop, Rein sighed. "Well I suppose it's not too bad. Are you one of the veterans on the ship?"

"Ah I see," said Rein, slurping down more of the nutritional goop. "Must be jarring to have been here for a while at the least."

Gulping down another spoonful, Rein looked at her still full tray and sighed. "Somehow this stuff is killing my appetite and I'm getting full... But I don't want to waste it all desu."

The Middleman shook his head. "Don't worry about it. Stacy produces it herself. Which is kind of gross if you think about it too long, but it also means that for intents and purposes it's an infinite supply."

Rein nodded, trying not to think about a sentient ship giving them things to eat. The mechanics of that was just too creepy.

"All right, I'll eat what I can then desu!" exclaimed Rein, slurping another spoonful down.
