The Medbay -- Reactions cityship November 9 2009, 09:39:29 UTC
The people in the Medbay have a lot to think about now. There are still injured people to treat and they might want to offer some comfort to each other after what they've just found out.

Even for Gauron, this takes a few minutes to process. Up until now, this has all been a game to him; he'd play around here for a while, but when he got tired of it, he'd go back to his world, and run the suicide mission he'd been planning - go out in a blaze of glory, and, if all went according to plan, take Kashim down with him. Even if the boy mercenary had never been his in life, Gauron was determined to have him in death.

Now, though, it's a lot more real.

And when the reality sets in - that his world was gone, and he, who was planning to die, is one of very few who survived - it is f***ing hilarious. He laughs - not that loudly, but it's still a harsh, almost psychotic sound. Somehow, he's cheated death again, when he least expected to. This is way more awesome than the time he survived a headshot. And knowing that his girls are probably here, safe somewhere in the pod cavern, makes it that much more hilarious. That they would save someone like him, and bring the Xia twins with him, is a joke; he's irresponsible, capricious, ( ... )

Tess' brain has been doing wild, imbalanced chemical wobbles, as her Friendlies try to fix overcorrect with overcorrect, and all the while her glands keep pumping out enough cortisol to kill a small horse.

Not that this is particularly visible from the outside, but it might serve as an explanation later for why she goes from quietly crying to trying to punch Gauron in the face. And she's strong! Probably almost as much as Gauron, in fact-enough, at least, that it's a shock coming from a teenage girl.

Gauron's got excellent reflexes; even if his guard's down, he's not getting punched today - not by someone who's just a hysterical teenager, anyway. He deflects the blow, grabbing her wrist as he does and pulls her in, catching her upper chest so as not to injure her before closing his fingers around her throat just barely hard enough to frighten. "Take it easy," he growls in her ear. "We've all had a long day, and we're still tense - and we all have our own ways of coping."

"Hey, hey!" Kawalsky moved forward and put his hand over Gauron's, a clear sign for him to let go. "Easy, we're all in this together. Everyone... copes differently." Though he shot Gauron a glance. Wondering Just what kind of guy would laugh at news like this.

Tess grabs at Gauron's hands around her throat, neck muscles autonomically tensing up. Her muscles are more solid than they should be for their size, but not so much that in her current state of mind she isn't basically at his mercy.

Gauron loosens his grip after a few seconds, once he's decided she probably isn't going to try anything else, and gives her a little shove to balance her back on your feet. "Why don't you try some deep breathing or something?"

"And why don't you try backing off." Oh yes, Kawalsky was watching you, Gauron. Watching you very closely. "She's just a kid. What's your excuse?"

Tess takes a few shuffling steps back. She's got good kinesthetics, at least-nothing really trained, but solid natural aptitude, enough to not fall over easily.

Her teeth are gritted, but she doesn't say anything.

"Hey - she's the one who attacked me." Gauron shrugs. "I'm just trying to make sure it doesn't happen again." With that, he gets up and moves to a different part of the Medbay.

Kawalsky just shook his head and turned to Tess. "You all right?"

"I-I'm fine," she hisses, squinting as she tries to get some better control over herself. "I shouldn't have done that."

"No, you shouldn't have. But you've just been through a lot. We all have." He laid a hand on Tess's shoulder. "Hell, I can't even believe it right now. But if it's true, all we have is each other, even the ones who have some screws loose. We're going to have to learn to work together. So no more punches."

"I shouldn't have tried," Tess says, and she leans in towards the grip of the hand on her shoulder a little. "Ain't what a grasshopper does, t'get violent jus' 'cause somebody's an ass." Her gaze rolls up towards the ceiling. "I guess I better set a damn fine example. I might be th'only one left." Something wrenches within her as the adrenaline and cortiosol finally run out. "I--uh--"

And she faints, all at once.

"Whoa!" Tess was lucky Kawalsky had quick reflexes. He caught her before she hit the floor. "Hey, hey kid." He hadn't caught her name. "Come on, wake up." Just his luck. At least they were in the medbay.

The girl is noticeably heavier than she should be-weird, but not so much that she's unmanageable. She does seem to be pretty out of it, though her fluttery, overactive pulse (if Kawalsky checks) is starting to slow.
