A Very Tiring Day

This morning my friend Shanna and I went over to get free coats from a church.  It was really sad, almost no one in the line had coats or jackets that were warm enough to .  Poor Shanna was wearing yoga pants(?) or capris or whatever, an old pair of her son's shoes that had no laces and were too big for her and no socks.

The place where I live actually took a load of people over and the owner of the place just stayed in his warm Suburban while we all suffered in the freezing cold weather.  Nice guy. (note the sarcasm).  When we finally got inside.  Anyway, I missed the bus to go down there, but Shanna came over to pick me up and I told her about the free coat thing and she and I went up there in her car, but we ended up waiting in line with the people from my place of living.

Once we got in the door of the church, we were all frozen.  I felt really bad for Shanna because her legs and feet were probably frozen numb.  They had us sign a "thank you" thing and sign out name on another paper, listing how many adults and kids were in your household.  Then this guy came over and helped Shanna find coats for her three boys, then he helped her find one that fit and then he helped me find one.  I'm kind of a big guy (or the sizes ran small) and I ended up getting the largest size of coat they had, which was a men's coat.  I was pretty pleased with getting a men's coat--even though they all looked the same, either black or navy.  Shanna and I have matching coats now lol.  The guy who was helping us asked about Shanna's kids and she told him about her youngest son having Autism and her middle boy has hip problems.  Then we went to different tables and got a very heavy blanket, socks, gloves and hats.  I, being the dork that I am, grabbed this hommade-looking hat that is yellow with a black trim.  It is obviously for girls, while all the other ones were gender neutral.  I wore it all day long anyway because my head was freezing because of my new, shorter haircut.

Anyway, later on, we went to a couple thrift stores.  I got some pretty good finds..  I got a new-looking pair of leather men's shoes.  I had a nice pair of cords picked out, but they were too small.  I wish I would have tried on the shirts that I picked out, because once I got them home I realized they weren't the right size.  The t-shirt I got is green and says BilaBong and I also got a button-down shirt which is white and has little stars or snowflakes or whatever on it.  For some reason I am drawn to blue shirts or at least ones with blue in them.  I don't think I even look good in blue!  The button-up shirt was too small in the shoulder area.  The t-shirt just hugged my curves a little too much.  Showing my "root beer" belly.  I found that if I tuck it in, it somehow draws the attention away from my stomach.
