Shore leave reactions | Clothing meat_mooks October 25 2011, 03:24:43 UTC
As your characters step down from the usual manner which they land during a shore leave, there are a few people standing waiting for them each day. A giant man standing easily over eight feel tall and looking like a mammoth takes out a piece of string and measures everyone for their complimentary hat, vest, goggles and boots, as a small team works nearby to adjust the sizes of the materials they already have. Thankfully the population is very varied so what spares that they have have been left here as a sort of donation project. It's rather interesting to see them at work, cutting with iron scissors, a spiderlady using her own silken string along with a robot aid to patch things up, and before long you are given an outfit that's been tailor adjusted for you.

Hopefully you aren't too agoraphobic.

They have a picture-perfect memory, so you can't trick them into giving you the same outfit twice...well unless you're a shapeshifter.

You are near the town, next to the haunted cave that a team of seven before you conquered and solved. In front, you can see the entire town, and on the ground there are tracks where the train passes.

Jr.'s clothes on a normal occasion emulated that of something cowboy-esque, so these clothes? Didn't do much in making him look very different than usual - those kinds of clothes suited him best, after all. And he wore them proudly.

And excitedly.

"Woah, we get hats too?" he asked, fitting it on his head and adjusting it. "Nice." He looked around, taking in a deep breath and very much appreciating the desert, the tracks nearby and the town in the distance. "I think I'm gonna like it here!"

Zouichi was totally wearing the hat. "The only thing missing is a soundtrack, some wind, and a few tumbleweeds," he said, adjusting the brim of his newest clothing acquisition.

And then they talked to all the cats?

"I'm sure we'll get the latter two sooner or later! And maybe even the first if they've got radios around here somewhere..."

Soundtrack or not, there would probably be one playing in Jr.'s head throughout this entire visit anyway. "But hey, the garb's nice enough. The hat'll go with my other stuff, too." He looked up to Zouichi. "You've been down here for a little longer than us, right? What was up?"

"Well, there was this whole assassination plot we uncovered that was being planned by the town's former mayor, Snidley. And then there were the haunted caverns, and the exploding henchmen..."

Come to think of it, he still had that powder, didn't he? No he did not

"...it's kind of a long story."

"Oh, great. So I guess this'll really be fun." There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice that dropped by his next line. Since he was completely honest about what he said next. "At least we get to look badass while we take care of it!"

"I guess that's one way to look at it. And it looks like they could use all the help they can get."

He motioned to Jr.'s getup. "Anyway, that hat kind of suits you. Thinking of getting into a saloon brawl?"

"You think it does?" He tipped it gently. "I always wonder if I should add one to the wardrobe. But hey, if the whole assassination thing comes up in a saloon, I sure wouldn't back down!"

Zouichi smiled. "Definitely. It gives you kind of a rakish look, I think." He moved a little to the side as a plump-looking Shepofalant waddled by, laughing.

"Are you sure you don't want to have a showdown at high noon?"

Jr. reached out to pet it as it did so. Yay alien looking animals.

"When did I say I didn't?" he joked with a laugh. Even though he probably wasn't totally joking if circumstances did lead to it.

"Well, if it happens, make sure to give it a little flourish." Not that he needed to tell Jr. that, he supposed -- whatever else you could say about him, Jr. had kind of a flair for the dramatic.

"Although it's kind of unfair that you have two guns, come to think of it."

"Hey," he pulled out one of his, "these babies are mine from home! I didn't get much else aside from'em, either. Except Asher, I guess."

Zouichi smiled a little, brushing his hand up against the flank of another grazing Shepolafant. "You know, you should have brought one of your antiques with you. It would have fit right in."

He paused. "Actually, you could probably get a hold of some new additions here."

That got a wink out of him. "Ha, that's part of the game plan! Given they've got some good shops around here."

Zouichi looked thoughtful. "I think I'll try and get something from one of the farmers. We don't get too much opportunity for real food on the ship..."

"Thank you for the generosity. Really. Thank you. But I don't know if these clothes are my type," Daniel tried to shrug away from the tape, but the giant also had an equally giant reach and patience. He continued measuring the archaeologist as if the man wasn't trying to worm out from his grasp. It wasn't as if he wanted to pay for new clothes right now, and if this was a gift, he didn't see what they'd done to deserve it.

Luckily for the man, Daniel caught sight of the spider-lady and her aid, and stopped trying to duck long enough to watch her, utterly fascinated despite himself.
