Hatching from a slimepod, having a voice speak into his head and being clothed by tentacles had all been new and somewhat unpleasant, but Tadao had experienced the new and unpleasant before, so all things considered he was dealing with this rather well. He was still immensely relieved when he'd been directed to an area where his possessions were being stored and he was allowed to put on his JGSDF uniform, leaving the strange pulsing plantsuit to shrivel down into a bracelet around his left wrist.

Personal effects restored to him, he followed the voice's instructions and entered a large, open room filled with people - and a variety of creatures he'd never seen before, and a few he couldn't begin to describe. The novelty of it all was enough to make him stop and stare for a moment before he regained his composure, and then he fell to scanning the room more carefully, looking for familiar faces - in particular, those of his wife or daughter.

Hoshi had been looking through the group to see if her parents or her team would be around. However, when it seemed that maybe she would be one of the unlucky ones, she saw a balding man in the crowd and took a moment to pause. Her hands rubbed at her eyes and she stood there, blinking in surprise.

No way.

No freakin' way.

It was him - her father! Daddy!

Her face lit up and she squealed happily while weaving her way through the crowd. She was running as fast as she could, tears of relief pricking at the corners of her eyes.

"Father!" she ecstatically replied and gave her old man a hug. "You're really here! I've missed you so much!" she said before the tears worked their way down her cheeks and smiled the best she could through her tears.

He'd been watching a bunch of pastel horse-things converse, wondering if he wasn't actually on a terrific bender of some sort, when a familiar sound drew his attention.

Dad totally recognizes your squeals, honey. That's what dads do.

"Hoshi!" He turned just in time for her to throw her arms around him and reciprocated in kind - partially out of habit, partially to steady himself and partly because he was simply relieved to see her and know that she was alive and all right in this strange place.

He smiled back down at her, but there was a tinge of paternal concern there. No father likes to see his daughter cry, after all, and she was acting as though she hadn't seen him in forever. "I'm here, all right," he assured her, reaching up to cup her cheek in one hand.

The words were unspoken, but there. Tell me what's wrong.

She raised her hand up to wipe her tears away, trying to calm down. Having him here helped ease her worries and concerns that her mama, team and her friends were here. But, despite that, she was still crying. Even she couldn't be strong all the time.

"I've been so worried, father. I-I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't cry because you're here now and things are gonna be okay and--" It didn't seem like she was going to stop unloading all of her concerns and worries that she had for months now, but she had to pause to take a breather. She shook her head and still was grinning up at him.

"I've been hanging in there."

I'm so happy you're safe. Everyone... We're gonna win this...

"Hey, it's okay. Anything you have to tell me, I'll listen to. Anytime." He gave her a little squeeze, inviting her to open up to him more or just keep holding onto him.

Well, there was one thing she had to tell him for the future, but that could wait until later.

Or could it? They only had today, so she wanted to make it count.

"Um, well - how would you feel about your little girl becoming a superhero here? For real?"

Tadao blinked down at her, genuinely caught off guard by this announcement. A superhero? She couldn't be serious, it had to be some kind of joke, or a code for something else.

Except that there was a giant man bellowing about eggs not too far away, and the rainbow horse moot from earlier was still going strong, so maybe, just maybe there was some merit to her claim.

"What kind of superhero, exactly?..."

"A Kamen Rider, which is someone who fights to protect other people. Um, specifically, I'm Kamen Rider Nazca and--" she paused to take out her Gaia Memories and her Nazca Driver to show him.

"I can show you the form it has, if you want."

Tadao listened a little bemusedly to this explanation, peering at the two artifacts she presented. Finally he nodded.

"All right." He grinned faintly. "If showing me here isn't going to give away your secret identity, that is."

"Oh, don't worry about that! People know I'm a superhero here. There's... a lot of them around, actually." Amongst the Riders, Rangers, and the like - there really wasn't a dull moment on Stacy, at least in her opinion.

She then placed the Driver around her midsection, feeling it wrap around her waist. Her finger clicked the Nazca Memory, hearing it announce NAZCA!

"Henshin."

She slotted the Memory in and held her arms out as she was surrounded by flames and light, donning her blue armor once more.

"So... what'cha think?" she asked behind the suit.

Well, that was...a little startling, in a crazy sci-fi movie kind of way. He couldn't help taking a step back as the transformation took place, and when the light died down, he stared at the armored figure in front of him.

And smiled. "Somehow, I'm not surprised," he murmured. "Figures that if the opportunity came up to become a crimefighter, you'd take it."

To see her father's smile and approval meant the world to her. She took the Memory out of the slot and put it away, breaking her transformation.

"Well... Yeah. People around here need my help, so I gotta offer it however I can!"

Tadao chuckled, watching as his daughter resumed her more familiar form. "They're in good hands if you're on the job, then." He would have preferred that Hoshi not have to put herself in danger, of course, but he understood all too well the desire to protect the innocent and fight for the greater good, and he was also confident that she could handle herself in a dangerous situation. She was his daughter, after all. And she'd done all right for herself so far.

Still... "So there are other people here with powers like this? People who help you fight, who watch out for you?"

Couldn't resist the timing - lemme know if this isn't okay. thisclinchesit September 21 2011, 09:57:35 UTC
"That'd be me," came a voice from behind Tadao - Shoutarou tipped his hat a bit once he was in sight of the man, and a warm smile was on his face. He was still feeling a little half-boiledmushy from his run-in with Soukichi, but he figured he should meet Hoshi's dad, given the chance.

"...well. There's a lot of us who watch out for each other, but, uh. My partner and I have kinda latched onto Hoshi. Or more like she latched onto us." Man, that came out awkward. Uh... How to recover...

Handshake!

Shou holds a hand out to the man. "Hidari Shoutarou, sir - private detective and Kamen Rider."

It's fine! Tadao -> Shoutarou -> Hoshi for posting order? radiantcourage September 23 2011, 00:31:39 UTC
Right when Hoshi was about to answer her father, she turned and saw Shoutarou approach and introduce himself. She chuckled a bit and then shook her head, her grin returning.

"Yeah - I kinda adopted Shoutarou here as a surrogate brother, father. He's helped me out a lot here as has his partner." There might have been a little nervous blush creeping on her cheeks when she said that. She wasn't even sure how he'd react to his little girl getting herself into a relationship on this weird ship.

Tadao arched an eyebrow at the young man's appearance and subsequent babbling, but his expression was, if anything, amused, and he accepted the handshake, gripping Shoutarou's hand firmly.

"Thank you for helping her out, then." He placed his other hand on his daughter's shoulder. "It's good to know Hoshi has people to care for her and support her in a situation like this."
