Let it never be said that Stacy was not benevolent toward her crew. Truth was, she loved them, to the point of risking her own life. And thus, she'd been busy for quite some time... silently she had worked, trying to get into her own archives and cross-checking references. She was going to help boost morale and give them a gift - show them people

"How've I been doing?" Daniel repeated dumbly, blinking. Just like they'd met on a grocery store instead after a few years. And not, you know, as if Jack had just woken up, ass naked and covered in slime. Actually, he sounded more offended, he thought. Daniel reminded himself who he was dealing with. First of all, there wasn't any arguing Jack wasn't something different, and that included one of the weirdest sense of humors, combined with the worst sense of timing he'd ever seen... not to being able to react to situations in a way that most sane people didn't.
Although the pissed off confusion seemed appropriate enough.
Daniel glanced briefly at the people around them. "Oh, I'm good. Missing for several weeks, but good. How about you?" he replied just as casually. He cocked his head slightly. "Don't you have an idea what's going on? No one filled you in yet?"

"I was kinda preoccupied at the time Daniel" Plus, how often did Jack actually pay any kind of attention during briefings?

"Well..." Daniel said slowly. A lot had gone on since he'd woken up here, but he didn't think the missions would interest Jack. Not unless they yielded some knowledge about the Goa'uld or technology to fight them. The only thing he could think of was the Time Dragons, and dealing with them once had been enough.
And he had a good idea what Jack would have thought about the Galilee mission. He'd probably have taken the side that yielded the big honkin' space guns. If they had only one day, Daniel had no desire to spend it getting into an argument over ethics. "Our universe and everything we know was destroyed. Supposedly. We've been drafted to fight a war, but I don't think that'll mean much to you if you're here for a day."

"Hey, we've done more with less time, haven't we? Guess this isn't one of those times where that's an option though, right?"

"I don't know if we've fought a war in less than twenty-four hours," Daniel said, but he smiled a little. Maybe Jack had seen the start and end of a war in a day, some small operation out in the middle of nowhere, with paperwork that wasn't ever going to see the light of day. He was so tight lipped about his background that you never really knew for sure. "The best we can do is defend ourselves and find out what's going on."
Daniel stuffed his hands into his pockets. "Is there any way you can stay? We could really use your help."
