Another medium sized cave housed Chime, an adult female dragon, and her two children - Tick and Tock. She appeared to pay no attention to the newcomers, instead watching the young dragons closely as they raced around the cave.
A dragon, female by the looks of it. Although she was no expert on judging the gender of a dragon. The two younglings definitely caught and held her attention. They were a bit of a distraction. For a long time, she said nothing, but after awhile her impatience got the best of her and she spoke up to gain the larger dragon's attention.
"Hello there, my name is Doctor River Song." An introduction is always a good way to start a conversation.
She knew very well that the visitors were standing there, she had all the time in the world after all though and would get to them in due time. She appeared for a moment not to have heard River's introduction as Tick and Tock continued to race about the room, it was only when they took interest briefly in the comparatively small woman, running circles around them before rapidly loosing interest once more to run off, did she actually turn her attention to the lesser beings.
"Yes, hello, River Song, I am Chime and these are my children, Tick and Tock," Raising her head haughtily as she introduced herself and her children as if they were far more important than she and the crew members, after all they were Time Dragons.
River spares the young Time Dragons a curious glance or two as they run circles around her. As swiftly as she gains their interest, she loses it. Like human children, their attention span appears to be brief and practically non-existent.
"They're lovely. I just adore children." She puts on her best smile. It wasn't a lie either. River, despite being so tough and ruthless, had a soft spot for kids and cute creatures. Take the otter for example, she'd become quite attached to it before the Doctor took it away to look for Marco.
Once more the two young Time Dragons run about the cave even going so far as to clamber over their mother, who gives them something of a scolding look at that.
"They are my children, it is to be expected that they are," She replies rather haughtily as she watches them, "They are quite energetic indeed, it's either on or off with my children," She replies quite proudly if the slight hint of exasperation.
Watching the two young Time Dragons run amok, River was beginning to formulate a plan. Perhaps, just maybe she wouldn't be too terrible at this diplomacy stuff after all. The only question was, could she get the maternal dragon interested in her proposition?
"You sound like you could use some time to yourself. To catch a nap or do something on your own." She starts off with a concerned note to her voice and a slightly anxious look on her face. "The crew of our ship seem to be affected by a strange, melted clock. They're reversing in age. Perhaps, if I were to watch your children for you, you would be inclined to help us?"
Chime was quiet a moment as River spoke, time to herself? Time to do whatever she would please? That was something she had not had in a rather while. Her eye almost lit up at the opportunity, "Just how long of a time are talking?" she asked with more than a hint of interest.
Even as they spoke the two Time Dragon children raced around to circle around River again, this time spending a bit longer, the two little dragons not much larger than a larger dog each. Though they didn't speak to her for the moment they did peer over her with greater curiosity "Well, it seems my children have taken some interest in you, you do have a certain sense of one who has traveled time after all," as well as perhaps something..more, not that she was to say. Perhaps this one would do well to watch her children..but that would depend.
River was teeming with Time vortex energy and not all of it came from her travels with the Doctor through time and space. A good deal of it had to do with her DNA. Perhaps that was why the little dragons were suddenly so interested in her. Glancing down at them, she wondered if it would be considered rude to pat them on the head? In the way one pats the head of a child, not a dog.
She glances up at Chime and frowns in thought, trying to decide what would be a worthy amount of time. "Six hours? Perhaps a day, if you want to drive a hard bargain. And yes, I've traveled through time with the man I love."
The two young dragons rarely stood still even as they watched her, circling this way and that about the curiously 'time' smelling woman. The didn't look like they'd mind a pat, they didn't seem the all too shy sort after all, just curious.
Chime, already thinking on just what she could do with some time to herself narrowed her eyes considerably at the offer, snorting "Six hours, a day?! You may as well be offering minutes! Such insignificant time, you shall have to do better if you wish my help in dealing with your little clock,"
River reaches out to lay her hands on the two dragons. Patting first one, then the other; unsure how they would react to her touch since she really wasn't exactly pure human. They seemed to sense that. "That fact is, that I have to return to our ship within a limited span of time. A day is really all I can spare."
They lift their heads into the touch lightly, tilting their heads to look up at her. Once more Chime snorted, "Once more you forget just who and what you are talking to, with but a single day can be expanded out to a week, even upwards of a month and still you would be back on your precious ship by the end,"
"I suspected as much, but I wasn't certain." To manipulate time to such a degree, that was pretty much unheard of without the aid of a TARDIS. These Time Dragon must be very powerful, very ancient, and very wise. "Alright, then name something that would be acceptable to you."
"Indeed, well now you know," She held her head high as she peered down on the time infused humanoid, watching her children move about her, sniff at her curiously, nosing at her hands. Chime considered her question before finally answering, "Watch my children for a minimum of one week, and I shall agree to destroy this clock that plagues your crew," A week would give her plenty of time to herself.
River is hesitant to touch them at first, but when the young dragons nuzzle and sniff her of their own free will, she ventures to pat them on the head. "Can they talk as well? If so, they're very polite." She doesn't really know much about the growth cycle of dragons, so she has no idea how old Chime's children are.
Her eyes widen at the proposed time period. "A week?" Seven days? That seemed like a long time. "You sure you want to trust them to me for that long? I mean, I'm not exactly an expert in taking care of Time Dragon children. You'll have to let me know what they eat and things like that. I won't let anything happen to them ofcourse."
The two young time dragon seem rather encouraged by the patting, sniffing and moving about her all the more curiously as Chime watches on, "They cannot speak, not yet, still another decade before they reach that stage,"
"You heard me correctly, one week, seven days, one hundred and sixty eight hours or ten thousand and eighty minutes," she replied in turn as she peered down at the time traveling humanoid, "They are Time dragons, they will be fine, just keep them entertained," she replied before listing off a few things they would need over the week a relatively short list compared to what a normal child would need.
"Another decade, huh? Well, I'm sure once they start talking you'll wish they'd never started. At least, that's the way it seems with human babies." River really can't believe she's doing this. Time traveling experience didn't necessarily prepare her for baby sitting. However, she supposed putting up with the Doctor all those years qualified her to deal with other time related...creatures.
"Alright." She says, after paying close attention to the instructions given to her. "They'll be safe with me."
