It wasn't long before the summoned crewmembers were brought down to the planet's surface - a peculiar place, where the ground seemed to be constructed from bolted metal sheets and strange plants made of cogs and clockwork parts grew from cracks in the metal, their parts whirring away. And up ahead a large, metallic mountain rose towards the rust-coloured sky. There, at the base of that mountain, they would find four caves - the homes of the Time Dragons they had come to meet.

"So how much do we know about these guys?" Sakura asked, focusing on the caves in the distance. "Four caves, four new dragons." At least four chances to set this thing right.
"Then not much." Her lips pressed into a thin line. She worked in medical; she knew how fast things had been winding down. "Then let's try not to waste any more of what they have left than we need to. Right?"
River Song seemed to be preoccupied with glancing around at her surroundings, taking in the strange plant life made of miscellaneous clock parts. This place looked like something right up the Doctor's alley. Up ahead, she suspected, were the homes of the dragons. "You know, I've never seen a dragon before. Funny how I've seen just about everything else during my travels, but never a dragon."
Kang couldn't help kneeling down to take a closer look at one of the strange plants, watching the parts move. He'd been around living machines enough over the past months to not be too shocked by it, but it was still fascinating to see them in plant form rather than animal.
They were on a mission, though, and he was acutely aware of the danger of dallying for too long, so he quickly stood back up to face the mountain. He hoped it wouldn't be too difficult to convince one of the dragons to destroy the clock.
Turning to face River, he snorted, "There's a couple on the ship I'm sure you'll run into at some point. I'm sure Lord Bight wouldn't mind the help of one of them on this particular mission."
It was at that point the Governor stepped up beside Kang, casting a sideways glance to the draconian, "Crucible's help would perhaps be of use, but this may need a Governor's touch," He replied easily, he would get a feel for these time dragon's first, if Crucible needed to make an appearance at a time so be it "I have dealt with Onysablet for many years, let us see just how these Time dragon's compare,"
"I'm still new to the ship and despite my best efforts, I don't think I've explored Stacy and her inhabitants as much as I'd like to." River Song explained with a small sigh to the stranger who appeared. She had other things to do, like keeping track of her crazy future-husband. That's practically a full time job in itself.
"I'm better with guns then with diplomacy, but I'll give this my best shot. We need to hurry before the affected people become too de-aged."
Returning the glance with a carefully neutral look that was betrayed by the rustling of his wings, Kang shrugged. It was only Crucible he had a problem with, not Lord Bight; and, he'd refrained from insulting the dragon. "Well, we haven't run into anything like Onysablet's dragonspawn yet, so that's a point in their favor."
He nodded at River and started towards the mountain, picking his way over a few of the plants before finding a good stretch of smooth metal.
Up his alley, corridor, hallway, hallway-ish things: River’s right. He couldn’t resist something like this, even if this wasn’t a life and non-death situation. The Doctor materialized at River’s shoulder, leaning over her slightly.
“Really? Well-traveled woman like you? I’m shocked, River,” the Doctor said, giving River one of those almost private smiles. “You haven’t lived until you’ve seen a dragon or two!”
And provided they didn’t try to chomp off your head, which would make things decidedly awkward, wouldn’t it? The Doctor had his hands in his pockets as he gazed up at the mountain, taking in the cogs, the gears. It almost reminded him a bit of the TARDIS, if the TARDIS decided to turn inside out and throw out all the cushions while she was at it.
River Song doesn't even have to turn that frightfully wild curled head of hers to know that the Doctor is behind her. It's more like a gut instinct these days. When he gets all smug and loud-mouthed like that, she just wants to slap him some days. "I suppose I'll get my chance today then." Glancing over her should at him, she can't help but smile, despite that twinge of annoyance. That's what marriage is about, you know? Not killing your partner, no matter how many times you might when to throttle him.
"Time dragons, who'd have thought?" She chuckles, "Diplomacy is more your strong suit. I usually point a gun and ask very nicely, but I'll give this my best shot. I can be persuasive."
River's right, too, on that front, because the Doctor most certainly is smug and he isn't making much of an effort to hide it. In fact, he's making no effort at all -- instead he only gives her one of those smiles, the corner of his mouth quirking, and he's all really rather shameless because for once, just this once, he's one step ahead of River Song. He reaches out and pats River on her shoulder.
"Now's as good a time as any," he says. He drops his hand from her shoulder, turning on his heel to gaze up at the clockwork all around them. "That's very thoughtful of you to not go in guns blazing. Turning over a new leaf? Or maybe bullets aren't much good against a great big metal dragon and you could've come to that conclusion before we even left the ship."
It's a mixture of all of the above, he thinks. And yes, he's seen first hand how persuasive she can be.
Don't get used to being ahead of her, Doctor. She shoots him a rather cross look when he pats her shoulder so arrogantly. "No need to gloat sweetie. Pride goeth before the fall." Still, she can't stay mad at him for long. Not over something like this. Eventually, she swats his shoulder and ventures on ahead. Never one to wait for the Doctor to take the lead. She's perfectly capable, independent, and free-spirited to soldier off on her own through the clockwork parts.
"Stacy doesn't approve of weapons, or so I'm told. It's hard to find a decent blaster." She glances at him over her shoulder, her expression dead serious. She prefers to be armed in these types of situations. She feels naked without a weapon holstered to her body. "Come along, Doctor."
