Update part 2: The fun stuff

Jul 20, 2007 10:11

So now onto the more happy things in my life! XD

This last few months have been a blast since I've discovered numerous things online.

01. Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou (The Lion Wars) for the PSP is so awesome. Now I don't regret NOT finishing FFT on time because now I can play it again portable style. =P The fmv is stunning and you know I LOOOOOVE the bgm track. Instead of the weapons being showcased with the zodiac signs, they show a lot of crystalized flowers and vines growing and such. And I heard the Japanese narrative of the words in the introduction movie! XD It's just so cool. FFT for the PSP was made for the 10th anniversary of Final Fantasy Tactics. First released on the PSX in Japan on June 20th, 1997 and FFT for the PSP released in Japan on May 10, 2007. It will be released in NA on Oct 9, 2007.

02. Final Fantasy IV for the DS is coming! The trailer looks stunning and it seems they've remixed our favourite tracks like 'Theme of Love'! This was released for the Final Fantasy series 20th anniversary. If we look back, FFIV for the SNES was originally released in Japan on July 19, 1991. This game is due to release in Japan around Q4 2007. In the trailer, Cecil and Rosa converse with voices and that's just *_* So cool~~

03. Heroes of Mana for the DS will be released on August 14, 2007!! Together, Children of Mana + Dawn of Mana + Heroes of Mana + 2 mobile games + one manga (Princess of Mana) make up the World of Mana project by Square Enix. However, Heroes of Mana shocked me the most. I never knew it was to be a prequel to my beloved Seiken Densetsu 3.

So the characters will be living in the same timeline as the SD3 characters. The story is set 19 years before the events of Seiken Densetsu 3, this means right before Angela (the oldest character in SD3) is born. Other than the main cast of Heroes of Mana (HoM) we will see what happened to the parents of the SD3 cast, such as Angela and Duran's parents that involves the connection between Grasslands Country Forcena and Magic Kingdom Altena. We will also know who Hawk's real parents are and how he became such good friends with Eagle the prince of the Sand Fortress Navarre. There is also Kevin's dad who is the beast king. Here are the real thrillers. We meet Charlotte/Carlie's grandpa (Priest of Light) and his close friend (he who becomes the Priest of Darkness). And get this XD That guy is ***SPOILERHeath's dad, who becomes the Masked Mage(the final boss of Kevin & Carlie's story)SPOILER***! And then last, my most favourite character in gaming history, Lise. Her nursing mother, Alma is related to one of the main characters in the story! XDDDD Everything is just so shocking since I never expected them to make something related to SD3 that never even released outside of Japan.

04. DAWN OF MANA (aka the TRUE Seiken Densetsu 4 since Legend of Mana had that title for a long while)!!!! My long awaited time to relive the glory days has come! The mana series has always been a favourite of mine. After finishing Legend of Mana, I missed the mana series a lot, and I started Sword of Mana not long after. Sword of Mana being the remake of the original Final Fantasy aka Final Fantasy Adventure. But... it has another name, and it's Seiken Densetsu! After Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3, this series never left my mind for a second. The gameplay revolves around repetition of going around collecting the mana spirits but that doesn't matter to me. =P The main plot is just too good! XD Especially SD3's. Dawn of Mana will be the first mana series to be on the PS2. It's been rated poorly and such but for a die hard Seiken Densetsu fan, that shouldn't bring us down! I already got the soundtrack and disc 4 is just amazing. They remixed some of the past Seiken Densetsu themes and they are just a joy to listen to again.

05. Tales of Symphonia: The Animation ep 1 was not exactly the best but at least they tried! Fitting a whole game into 4 episodes already sounds too much. You can expect many things to be missing. Before the ToS animation came out, I don't know exactly how it happened that I was drawn to it. But small things built up I guess! It all started years ago when I downloaded a mp3 rotation track which was one of the final boss themes of ToS. Then after a long time I stumbled upon the Unison Attacks Exhibition video that had Fatalize as the battle music. After that video I was in *_* mode. It was just such a good track. I looked around for different boss videos and the gameplay just looked so awesome! Too bad it's only for the Gamecube here OR I can play a Japanese import for the PS2 since Japan released it for PS2 as well. After that whole craze, I finally found the respective tracks I loved on the original soundtrack. ToS had a wonderful plot that will remind you of FInal Fantasy X. However, you can't call it a ripoff exactly. All the characters are different and so are all the circumstances. This is a Tales of- series after all, involving mana. But I will tell you where the similarities start.

Colette begins her journey of world restoration. Mana is dying in the world and if she completes this journey mana will once again fill the land and everyone can live without the lack of food and despair they are facing without the power of mana. Lloyd is her childhood friend and really cares about her and wants to accompany her on the journey but she left him behind by telling him the wrong meeting time. She says this in the letter she left for Lloyd in the anime (which is very different from the game but they have to speed up the relationship building for this 4 ep story XD In the game, she doesn't reveal much about her journey until it couldn't be hidden any longer. In the game, the letter also includes her thanking Lloyd for all the years of friendship and kindness and how lucky it was to meet him.) "Sorry... please understand. If anything happens to you in this journey, I will loose my reason to go on the journey of world restoration. Please live in happiness after the world is saved." Something along those lines. Tales of Symphonia is such a good game and seriously people play 10 times and are still not bored of it because of its post game bonuses.

There's also Tales of the Abyss. I'm still addicted to the opening and can't wait till I can get to this game but I wonder when that will be. =\ sigh... so busy.

06. Higurashi no naku koro ni Kai... it's finally here! I was so tempted to buy the game if the anime sequel didn't come out. It is the most horrific anime I've ever seen but after you've seen it, you just can't help but say it's good. =) It's an awesome detective story that will make you wonder what REALLY happened. It's an ingenious plot. They use the same characters, setting, timeline for 4 different stories involving the one major question you as the viewer would have to figure out along with the cast... What is oyashiro-sama's curse exactly and who is behind it all? The 4 stories progressively reveal more and more clues for you so you can solve that mystery. And the interesting part is as you watch each of the 4 stories, your cast of characters take turns being the "culprit" and the "victim". It is such a cunning story and I appreciate this creativeness! =D This was originally a doujin game too! That is just so shocking! If you can bear the horror, and your detective senses are tingling... I really recommend you to watch it. This is one of the best anime I've seen in a long time.

So I've watched episode 1 and it's just so exciting. I will try to do more updates now so I don't jam it all into one entry like I am doing and KILLING YOUR EYES! HAHAHAHAHA LOL

07. I've finally started Lovely Complex and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge. What can I say about Lovely Complex but =). It's exactly as my friend recommends. GREAT AND AWESOME!!! I'm addicted to the ending now. =P Really nice lyrics! ShichiHenge on the other hand is just for comic relief since it's so not possible in real life that you chainsaw a building to save one person and still get away from the police. But it is funny I guess and we all need laughs once in a while.

08. I've finally reached the end of LocoRoco and the ending just makes you smile lots. =) It's too cute. So glad I have the soundtrack just so I can listen to it and feel like a LocoRoco singing. lololol. Ar Tonelico still needs work though. It is still the game I am currently playing. However I did make progress within this month. I finally got the "bad" ending. So I can finally progress with the game to the Dragon's Nest and beyond. So that's just 2/7 endings. -_- Long way to go huh? But no rush =) I know the story and I'm just playing the game for fun and getting the very funny dialogue.

On another note, Ar Tonelico II's main site for Japan is already up and I hate to say it but one girl gives me the feeling of Alouette from La Pucelle Tactics and the other looks like Chloe from Tales of Legendia. But once again, I have high hopes for the soundtrack of this series. Ar Tonelico the soundtrack kept me listening for 8 months (including this month). So I hope AT2 will do the same but I have to hope it will be released here in NA. ;-; The track playing in the background of the AT2 site is really great and I hope the rest of the ost that will come out will be just as good if not even better!

09. Early summer I've been going TVB crazy but not for the most popular ones now exactly... more for the older ones. I got and watched Untraceable Evidence 1 (first released in 1997). I was sure I watched this back when it aired but when I watch this again all I remember was one character's name. So worth rewatching =) Untraceable Evidence (UE1) is more on the forensic side than the detective side. So it was nice seeing all the lab stuff you might see in CSI minus the firearms part. Most crimes in UE1 are usually done with a knife/strangulation. TVB never did firearms analysis really but I have yet to watch Forensic Heroes (released in 2007) that's just sitting on the shelf now, so who knows? Maybe they might? =\ It's said this series is modeled after CSI. Still have to watch UE2 the sequel. But I've stopped for now since...(see next item)

10. I've been going a bit soundtrack crazy. I've found all the major Mana Series Soundtracks and I even got the Mana-Khemia Soundtrack too! And not sure if this is the first time revealing this but I looove tracks that are played throughout trailers and official sites. So I've been looping the Seiken Densetsu 4 version of 'Rising Sun' composed by Kenji Ito originally for the first Seiken Densetsu. And you guessed it, it's the song that plays in the background of the english official site for Dawn of Mana. It's just woooow <3. That track is <3. It's got a special feeling, like the world is being blessed by the mana tree =) Mana-Khemia's (Japanese) official site sports a super nice bgm as well. It's sounds like a regular Atelier workshop theme but it's really catchy. I got the ST for the track but found the OP by Shimotsuki Haruka to be addicting as well. So I think it'll be a wonderful soundtrack even though I haven't played the game. =P

I've noticed 'the Seikens' site has revived and I'm soooo happy! That site rocks! I give it lots of cheers. It even hosts some remixes of Seiken Densetsu themes and I found some really good ones. One being from a track I love called Powell (a forest theme) from SD3 and one that I used to hate but after this remix am beginning to enjoy the track much more. ironically it is Lise's home, the Rolante Castle: 'Female Turbulence'. Quite an amazing find!

11. So I've watched all the Detective Conan movies. I have to say I STILL like 2 and 4 the best. But here's my ranking from my top favourite down 4, 2, 1, 10, 9, 6, 3, 8, 5, 7:

Meitantei Conan: Hitomi no Naka no Ansatsusha (Movie 4)
-- Captured in her Eyes
-- Sweet story about Shinichi and Ran =)
-- This case is REEEEALLY good, with many twists and turns!

Meitantei Conan: Jyuuyonbanme no Target (Movie 2)
-- The Fourteenth Target
-- This case is REALLY good too!

Meitantei Conan: Tokei Jikake no Matenrou (Movie 1)
-- The Timed Skyscraper
-- Really sweet Shinichi/Conan and Ran scene

Meitantei Conan: Tantei-tachi no Requiem (Movie 10)
-- Requiem of the Detectives
-- Awesome case that begins weirdly but you will soon be caught in the excitement!

Meitantei Conan: Suihei Senjou no Sutoratejii (Movie 9)
-- Strategy Above the Depths
-- childhood scenes of Shinichi and Ran!!

Meitantei Conan: Baker Street no Bourei (Movie 6)
-- The Phantom of Baker Street
-- very scary plot... but in the end, a very cool climax!

Meitantei Conan: Seikimatsu no Majutsushi (Movie 3)
-- The Last Wizard of the Century
-- very cool climax!!

Meitantei Conan: Gin`yoku no Magician (Movie 8)
-- Magician of the Silver Sky
-- very interesting... Kaitou Kid is cool no?

Meitantei Conan: Tengoku e no Count Down (Movie 5)
-- Countdown To Heaven
-- This movie was like a one hour special!!! XD

Meitantei Conan: Meikyuu no Crossroad (Movie 7)
-- Crossroad in the Ancient Capital
-- really Japanese case that's why it was hard for me to like it as much as others

I will aim towards getting the episodes as well. Which will take forever. =P But it's worth it. There are some episodes that are just so good you don't want to risk missing a good one! So I'll keep updating on Detective Conan but there's way too much to watch and do right now.

12. Lastly, the two great artists Shikata Akiko and Shimotsuki Haruka. I loved to listen to Shimotsuki Haruka ever since she sang the Atelier Iris Eternal Mana 1 opening. But later she also became known because she sang some songs for Rozen Maiden and Kino no Tabi the Beautiful World. She really became amazing in my mind after I heard schwarzweiß ~Worlds Connected Beyond the Mist~, the opening for Atelier Iris Grand Fantasm. Then I was amazed by the time she sang for Ar Tonelico. She was awesome as Aurica's singing voice. =) Really great pick Gust. After Ar Tonelico, I wanted to find more of her singles and albums to listen to. When I found Tindharia no Tane, I had stars in my eyes. Such a pretty album. So going to search for more of her work this summer. She really deserves more fans.

Then there's Shikata Akiko. When I first heard Ar Tonelico's songs, it was my first time hearing her work. She has a very unique voice and 'most' of her songs sound like choir songs. Really pretty. <3 Shikata Akiko played Misha's singing voice in Ar Tonelico. After hearing the Ar Tonelico opening and some of the trailer music, (if you wanted to know which one they were both by Shikata Akiko called 'Tsugaumei no Koe AE' and 'EXEC_HARMONIUS/.'), I knew I wanted to find more singles and albums from this artist.

So I've been very happy these few days because I've accumulated a good playlist for these two artists. Sooooo happy. I'm still looking for more but they're so hard to find! They are totally not popular because people shrug off these kind of music. sigh... such a shame.

I'll have you know, Shikata Akiko composes and writes lyrics. So I think she is awesome and she sings such beautiful songs! I need to put one up somewhere one day. =P Shimotsuki Haruka as well. That is what made Ar Tonelico so cool. The two main girls of the game wrote the music to their respective hymn songs.

Shikata composed the music for 'EXEC_CHRONICLE_KEY/.', 'EXEC_HARMONIUS/.', 'EXEC_PAJA/.#Misya extracting'.

Shimotsuki composed the music for 'EXEC_LINCA/.' (MY FAVOURITE HYMN!) and 'EXEC_RE=NATION/.'

I'm so glad to be able to hear their songs! =) So glad I can play Ar Tonelico.
