Tracks that were not played but were written on the program and played at other venues:
Final Fantasy series: Main Theme (but they sort of did through another track I think)
Final Fantasy series: Prelude (but they sort of did through "Medley 2002")
Final Fantasy IV: Theme of Love
Final Fantasy VI: Dancing Mad
Final Fantasy VII: Main Theme of Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII: The Man With the Machine Gun
Final Fantasy VIII: Love Grows
Final Fantasy IX: Prima Vista
Final Fantasy IX: A Place to Call Home, Melodies of Life
Random Notes I would like to include:
- they said they chose "Don't Be Afraid" (FF8 battle theme) over "Dancing Mad" (FF6 final boss theme). I think it is because [ 1 ] Dancing Mad is 17m39s on the OSV (Original Sound Version) and 10m46s on the Distant Worlds CD's version. [ 2 ] FF6 is not as well known as FF8
- they said the FF14 footage was new... but I thought it was released already?? So I just did a little check and if what they are saying is true, then it can only be perhaps PS3 version exclusive footage??
- I was starting to wonder if they will play any FF6 music... and they did in the end. (Luckily!) In turn, NONE of FF4's music was played. Even if they did, it will only be "Theme of Love" which is too bad. =( I like the "Main Theme of FFIV" much more...
- I felt that the "Fabula Nova Crystallis" solo was cut short... why is that?? It was a really nice song too!! Though from the program, I thought they would play "The Promise" instead for sure... but melody-wise, it is essentially the same song
- FF5's Clash on the Big Bridge was unexpectedly pleasant!! Never though they would include this one! It even comes with clips of Gilgamesh always running away... hahaha
- The battle clips in FF5, FF7, FF8 were in Japanese!! What a pleasant surprise!!!
- I am somewhat glad they edited the clips so that it's cool enough, but it doesn't show any spoilers in it!!
- I am surprised they included game clips of the battle during the opera (FF6) and the orchestra background picture. I'm glad it gave a humorous effect
- They managed to include summons and magic casting footage (FF7, FF8) which deserves "thumbs up" from me!!
- They use a lot of repeat footage for the older game chocobo scenes during "Swing de Chocobo". I'm glad they included many Sazh's baby chocobo scenes and they used ONE clip of Boco (the yellow chocobo in FF5). None the less, still impressive... they included many different chocobos from all FFs. They should include other colours too!!! (like red from FF7 and 'black' in FF5/FF7)
- *SHOCK* They didn't do any 'main' boss themes (like FF8's Force Your Way or FF7's Still More Fighting)!!! I guess if you have to count "Blinded By Light" but at least there were "some" designated special boss themes
- Isn't it surprising that only FF6 had clips with some English in it?
- Glad there is ONE designated town theme (FF8's Fisherman's Horizon) and location themes throughout the Medley included in the program.
- There were was a lot less cosplayers than I thought. There was a Yuna (FF10) and a Cid Highwind (FF7) that I saw. There was also a Lolita with cactaur and moogle dolls (Lulu from FF10 XD??). Maybe there were others but I didn't see them.
- Goods to buy: 2 different coloured t-shirts (white and dark navy blue I think?), 2 different CDs - white was Distant Worlds II and black was Distant Worlds I, a signed poster of distant worlds but it was white with the logo.
- Breakdown:
FF7 - 4 pieces / FF8 - 3 pieces /
FF6 - 2 pieces / FF5 - 2 pieces / FF11 - 2 pieces / FF13 - 2 pieces / FF14 - 2 pieces /
FF10 - 1 piece / FF9 - 1 piece
as you can see, the most popular games have been FF7 and FF8.
- 5 pieces were battle/boss themes or battle-related themes!!! It's much better than I imagined. If only they played "The Man with the Machine Gun"...
Random Thoughts I would like to include:
-
Vancouver, BC - October 8, 2009 set list (for reference)
-
Seattle, Washington - July 9-11, 2009 set list (for reference)
- Here's where I have to vent --- they include battle footage from the SeeD exam using "Don't Be Afraid" but they don't use the "The Landing" as the background music, which is the actual track that was playing in the game?!? I love "The Landing"... but I guess "Don't Be Afraid" is heard more often since it is THE battle theme of FF8.
- YAY! I finally found
an article by Toronto Star about the concert, too bad it's only to inform you about the event (dated Nov 26) =(.
- just look at the
youtube videos available already D: D: D: I wish I brought my camera... I wanted to honor the no camera policy since it's something I really love and support but... sigh... I will continue hoping they will come back or maybe I can go to another location to watch it. =)
- I bought and heard the Distant Worlds II CD last night and "Suteki Da Ne" has an English version now! X_X And they still say "Suteki Da Ne" in the song which, in my opinion, should have been changed to English as well with the rest of the lyrics. D:
- Medley 2002 consists of:
Final Fantasy Series: Prelude
Final Fantasy I: Main Theme
Final Fantasy I: Matoya's Cave
Final Fantasy III: Elia the Maiden of Water
Final Fantasy II, III & Series: Chocobo's Theme
Final Fantasy II: Rebel Army Theme
and possibly more since I did not play FF1 & 3 and am not very familiar with all the FF1-3 tracks. I played FF2 for like 2 hours, does that count as playing? XD But within those 2h, you would already hear "Rebel Army Theme".
Might add more if I think of some more...
It was just SOOOOO amazing!!!! I love Final Fantasy's music!! Though it's more correct to say I just LOVE game music.
