Yesterday was Monday. Monday I got home late - around 10-something - to find this note on my door:

To all Residents:
RE: REMOVAL OF CARS

Starting May 21st we have a company pressure washing the parking lot. On Tuesday May 22nd and Wednesday May 23rd they will be re-striping and stenciling our parking areas.

If you live in buildings A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,R,S,T, please remove your car by 9am in these areas for tomorrow Tuesday May 22nd.

If you live in buildings K,M,L,N,1,2,3,4,O,P,Q, please remove your car by 9am in these areas for Wednesday May 23rd.

Please be sure to remove your car or we will have to have them towed at your expense. After the striping in your areas is sprayed, you may return your car after 20 min of drying time.

We understand this is a huge inconvenience; however this striping is important so everyone can read their space numbers. We appreciate your help in making this as easy as possible.

Thank you,

[the building manager]

I'm in the first batch of buildings, and I did manage to move my car before I left this morning. But they were serious about towing; when I took off to catch my bus, they had the tow truck in removing cars.

All I could think this morning is that I was really fricking glad that I had come home last night. It's not unheard of for me to spend a day or two out crashing in Everett - and if I had done that on Monday, then the building manager & I would have had a clash. No way in hell they would get me to pay towing expenses for failing to comply when there's less then 24 hrs notice.

Grr.
