Human Rights Watch: Hizbullah did NOT use civilians as human shields

Sep 08, 2007 16:59

Haven't updated this in any newsworthy way in a long while and my guess is that it will stay that way for a while. I'm focusing on some other personal and professional matters at this point, but this was worth taking some time out from that to post:

Why They Died? from Beirut Spring:
The latest Human Rights Report offers a chilling reading on how more than one thousand Lebanese civilians died in Israel’s July war. It also rebukes one of Israel’s loudest sound-bites, namely the argument that Hezbollah used women and Children as human shields.

Hizbollah 'did not use civilians as cover' from The Independent:
In its strongest condemnation of Israel since last summer's war, Human Rights Watch said yesterday that most Lebanese civilian casualties were caused by "indiscriminate Israeli air strikes".

Israel accused of indiscriminate attacks during Lebanon war from The Guardian Unlimited:
In a 249-page investigation, its most detailed inquiry into the war, the New York-based rights group said its research showed that even though Hizbullah was also guilty of serious violations of the laws of war, there was no evidence that the militant group systematically fought from among civilians.

So for the last freakin' time! There was no excuse for the murder of thousands of innocent civilians by Israel's Offensive Forces last summer. Not that any of this is going to mean anything, not that there will be any discussion among the Western powers for their role in supporting such an oppressive and murderous regime, not that Israel is ever going to be held accountable. It's just one more. One more unjust war. Another massacre. One more. One more.
