Title: The Second Fiddles
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Pairing: Cally/Racetrack
Genre: First Time
Rating: PG-13ish? Hell, it's been so long since I've written a non-smutty story I have no idea how to rate it.
Word Count: 1006
Summary: They weren't the best of the best, but good enough for each other.

Nothing more than a bastard step-child, a child meant to be seen but not heard, liked but not loved, needed but not wanted. )

I love the ending, and the feel of the story.

It's nice to get a look at the non-best of the best, and realise that they're probably better off than the heroes.

It's an idea that's been rummaging about in my head for, like, years. Except, I always figured it would be a Trek story. Kinda like how the A-crew couldn't possibly work 24/7, so who worked the night shift? And so, there would be a B-team, or SG-2 for Stargate. One not as celebrated as the Alpha crew. Who had their own no-quite-so-great adventures and lived in the shadow of the main crew. And you know they totally snarked on the day shift.

Which brings me back to BSG and characters like Cally, and Racetrack, and all the other minor characters living, breathing and dying. Probably feeling disgruntled because they're really good at what they do but they'll always be shadowed by the uber-alphas amongst them.

Which, uh, is a long way of saying - thanks for the feedback.

This isn't a pairing I'd have thought of, especially since I ship Racetrack with Starbuck, but I liked this. Very nice, m'dear.

The good thing about BSG is, with all the hot females in the cast, it's like a femmeslash smorgasborg. So, it's not like Cally/Racetrack are my OTP. I just liked the idea of the two finding a commonality based upon who they aren't, then finding love because of who they are.
