Ha! I'm not sure if 'cultivate' is the proper word. I've been fiddling around with Photoshop since the first version came out. And it's pretty much what I do when I'm not writing (my current obsession is creating fake movie posters and novel covers, most of which will probably never see the light of day). I don't consider myself anywhere as good as some of the folks out there in LJ-land (the majority of my headers I use tutorials) so I stick to the Keep It Simple Stupid philosophy.
My second philosophy and it's the basis for pretty much all of my Photoshopped works is 'Wouldn't it be funny if...". Like 'wouldn't it be funny if you they sold your favorite characters in box form', or 'wouldn't it be funny if there was a tabloid magazine for femslash'. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean they *work* but that's the place I'm at when I create stuff.
