Title: The Best Kind of Corruption (Super Junior Has It)
Fandom: SHINee/Super Junior
Pairing: Onew/Key
Rating: PG
Word Count: 890
Summary: Not all adults are responsible.
Notes: It’s ridiculous, and there isn’t really a plot. It amuses me greatly though. This is kind of a follow up to Unfortunate Boys.
Sometimes it is really difficult to tell the age difference between the Super Junior and SHINee members, seeing as how the former seemed to have stopped maturing when they were ten, and the latter has the excuse of being young. This is probably why they get along so well, because they really do, and Jinki is grateful for any advice they can offer, because leading four teenagers anywhere was not an easy task.
The problem is that they don’t seem to have any helpful advice. He wishes that they could settle down, and not make a lot of loud noises when they are supposed to be silently waiting for their signals. He cannot actually blame everyone present for their loud voices, because that would mean that Kibum and Minho weren’t just sitting in a corner, staring each other down. They don’t speak, at all and for a while, he thinks they are just tuning the rest of them out, until Kibum smiles like he approves, and Jinki realizes that they are communicating. Somehow. It is surprisingly easy to ignore this, because they aren’t the ones drawing attention to themselves.
Nothing like Jonghyun and Yesung. His thought processes are cut off when his hair is messed up, and he makes a noise somewhere between a cat who has been stepped on and Kibum, when Taemin has done something adorable. Kangin never seems to learn, because he has been told off for this more than once, by everyone from Kibum to the stylists.
“Aren’t you excited to grow up?” the older, but only biologically, man asks, gesturing around the overcrowded room. Jinki shakes his head, because if this is their fate, no, he really wants to stay nineteen forever. Kangin laughs loudly, and Jonghyun belts out a line from She’s Gone. Yesung fails at looking unimpressed, nothing new, and follows this up with his own, very nice sounding, rendition of Love’s Way. It’s not like they sound awful or anything, but they are being really loud, and sooner or later one of them is going to crack, and Jinki knows this will end in tears. Before he can interrupt however, Kangin sits down, and grins. “Don’t even try.”
Jinki doesn’t. Partially because Jonghyun wouldn’t listen, and mostly because Yesung… is older than him and therefore he must respect him. It’s hard, but Jinki manages.
“Jungsu-hyung!” This, this is something Jinki can be pleased about. Kibum following Eeteuk around and imitating him was not the worst thing he’d ever witnessed, because Kibum could have chosen to mimic Heechul. The thought of Kibum being any meaner than normal leaves Jinki silently thanking every known deity for Eeteuk’s presence. “Could you show me how again?” Eeteuk adopts his signature look of complete and total patience, and Jinki thinks that if he were a woman, the world would make sense.
Speaking of deities, sometime between his lamentations, Siwon had joined them in their small bubble of sanity. His eyes were focused on the other side of the room, and his eyebrows were furrowed in dismay.
“How old is Taemin-ah?” The question is innocent, but the subject is another matter. It takes Jinki a moment to locate Taemin in the room, and when he does he wishes he hadn’t. The youngest is being flanked by Eunhyuk and Donghae, neither of whom is managing to look like the concerned adults they should have been. Taemin does a scandalous looking body roll, and Donghae actually beams, like he is proud of teaching a fifteen year old how to drive their fans insane. Eunhyuk does some disgraceful hip thrusts, prompting Taemin to follow along, which he does. Jinki looks back at Siwon, who has his eyes closed, blocking out the mental images.
“Headache?” Normally the question would be posed with some kind of concern in it, but Kangin sounds positively gleeful.
“No. You’re all terrible, and I am going to be sent to hell by association.” Not wanting to get into it with either man, Jinki stands up and makes for the door. Unfortunately, it is being blocked by Sungmin and Kyuhyun, who look as though they have been plotting something.
“Hyung, could I get by?” Being polite is, by now, just his way of being annoyed, and they seem to know this. Instead of being wary, as they would be if it were Kibum standing before them, they grin their evil grins, and drag him off into a corner.
“Unlike everyone else, I am not blind.” This is a dangerous sentence, in so many ways, but Sungmin has this way of being perfectly evil and disarmingly cute at the same time. It lures Jinki into a false sense of security. Unfortunately, as they are so quick to inform him, they have been catching the looks he throws in Kibum’s direction. He thinks it is unfair that he will no longer be able to look at Kibum straight again after the ‘helpful suggestions’ they gave him.
Finally, as if sensing the impending breakdown, one of the producers enters the room. All of Super Junior goes on their best behavior, and Jinki can only stare in wonder as his own band mates do the same.
“It’s time.”
“Thank you, so much.” Jinki leaves before he can be questioned about this outburst, and tries to ignore everything that follows him down the long hallway. He does catch one thing, and it actually frightens him.
“Now, Taemin-ah, remember to do that in sequence, right?”
