So I just totally had a brainstorm on what I'm going to do for my senior thesis next year. And this proves how much of a total dork I am...
How about a huge convention center/hotel/shopping center/thing..
The catch?
It would be designed to be like a crashed hive ship, which has been here for a while and retrofitted with our stuff. So it would be a convention center for like sci-fi/fantasy, comic, science, nasa, etc. conventions, with a hotel (living quarters) and possibly a small airport or something.. with like a pond following the trail where it created a crater. And it would be just about all sustainable (since it would have to be in space), and also have vegetation taking it over. So, when viewed from one direction just looks like a hill, the other direction looks like the space ship entrance.
Sort of similiar to
http://www.inhabitat.com/2008/01/23/amazing-green-roof-art-school-in-singapore/ but like a spaceship, and a convention center.
That would be totally awesome. I'd do just a spaceship, in space, but I don't know if they'd allow that.
or instead of a crashed ship I might take a cue from the City of Atlantis:
Another idea I have is to convert an old nuclear silo into a extreme sports center.
If you converted one of the silos into a diving pool, you'd have one of the deepest diving pools in existence (about 140 feet).
