So, as you may or may not know, my car was hit a few weeks ago by a drunk driver. No one was injured and to make a long story short, they ended up deciding that the damages were more than the value of my car, so they totaled my car and I am once again without a vehicle. Its cool though cause I hardly used it (although now that its gone, I do miss having one) and the engine and transmission were starting to go downhill. The insurance company already gave me $700 and after I give them the title and fill out the final paperwork, I'll get another $500-600.
The initial money is pretty much all gone already. I paid off a couple of bills, used the money (and the free rental car) to go to Seattle to see the Scissor Sisters, and then girl went shopping. Devan and I had an exhausting day of shopping on Saturday and I got some cute stuff. I'm probably going to use the rest of the money to take myself to San Francisco for a few days.
Currently I'm at work and sick. I was more sick yesterday, but I still feel pretty crappy today. The elixer that common folks call "whiskey" helped pull me through last night though. ahhh, I'm going to make a fabulous nurse someday, no?
Upon arriving at work, my manager called me into the office. Its looking like she's not going to end up getting the position she applied for, why I don't know. There hasn't been an official final decision, but she's "heard things" making it sound like they were offering it to someone else. Our new raises are supposed to be on our next paycheck which we get tomorrow and she also informed me that since I was promoted to Assistant Manager since the last raises (which were in October of 2003), I don't get a raise since I had a pay increase with the promotion. That means that I'm making just over $1 an hour from what I started at FIVE YEARS AGO. pretty cool, huh? I also realized that had I started at like, Starbucks 5 years ago, I'd probably be a store manager by now and making $35,000 a year. It sucks that other people that work here watch TV their entire fucking shift, but they're still getting raises. I put so much effort into this place, I work extra shifts when coverage isn't available, I come in on my days off to take care of things, yet I don't get any sort of appreciation or notice from anyone at this company. Not that I'm bitter or angry or anything.
I need to do something new.
