New Zealand

Hey everybody!

So according to Live Journal it has been 19 weeks since my last post. I guess it is time to update! So as many of you know, I will be heading out to New Zealand in a few weeks. I will be leaving from the east coast at 6am in the damn morning on January 13th and arriving in New Zealand around noon on January 15th (damn time differences.) While I am overseas I thought it would be fun to keep a journal to let you know what I am up to. I will be posting randomly whenever I can get to a computer for the whole month that I am there. I will also be posting photos on a community page so you can all see the amazing pictures (and so I don't overload my camera while I am there.) I will be doing some e-mails and maybe a couple postcards, but in order to do that I will need an email or address so pass those on to me. I will also send out an email to some of you with all the information. I will be back on February 11th, so almost an entire month. I will probably be a bit homesick so send me some emails or comments! Anyways, here is the information for my New Zealand stuff:

In other news, a lot has happened since my last post. At the end of August I quit the vet clinic job and decided to go for the Foreign Service job. I did not apply in September so that I could go to New Zealand without interfering with my application. I applied and took the Foreign Service Officer exam in early December which I feel confident about. I won't be getting my scores until after I get back from New Zealand, but it is definitely a huge weight off my shoulders to have that over with. When I pass the test the next step is to travel down to D.C. for an interview and assessment. Until then it will be nice to get out of the country and do some traveling completely on my own terms. Right now I am living at home in Vermont with my mother, getting ready for the trip and catching up on some fun reading. Since my last post I also started dating Jon, as many of you already know. We met at Maria and Shane's wedding, and have been together for a little over four months. He lives in Worcester, MA so there has been a lot of traveling down there to visit, about every other week. He is amazing and I couldn't ask for anyone better than him. There hasn't been much else that is really newsworthy. Christmas was good, got a new digital camera to bring to New Zealand. New Years will be spent in Worcester with Jon and his family and then maybe out on the town for midnight. Before I leave for New Zealand I will probably post once more, so keep your eyes peeled! Hope you all had a good Christmas and have a happy New Year!
