I went out to my dad's tonight. a few of the sportsman's members stopped in the house before I left. we got talking about the military and vietnam...a subject that I've wanted to hear my dad talk about for a long time now.
I learned something about my uncle that I never knew. he received two purple hearts during the vietnam war(knew). he got shot in the ass, and was flown to the hospital in Guam. within a week, they had him patched up and were going to send him home. he told him he wanted to go right back where he came from, so they sent him back into combat. within ELEVEN HOURS of being back, he was shot in the shoulder(didn't know). that was enough to make him go home.
my dad got pulled out for a couple weeks, because both of my uncles had been wounded. they were going to send him home, and he refused. he too went back.
I've been avoiding any type of combat for the past 2 years.
I've got some large shoes to fill.
