Back Home un-Hippying

Folk fest was amazing this year. Probably the best music wise that I've been to. The whole camping and who to go with situation was a little random, but since my usual camping partner is a dick, my new camping buddies worked out just find. I could have used a bit of a bigger tent since I was sharing with Mike, but unlike Shane, he does not grab my butt in the night. So, here go the music recomendations for this year.
Death Vessel- Try to figure out the gender of this singer on your own. Don't go too crazy.
Crooked Still- My favorites from last year.
Final Fantasy- If you live in Winnipeg, go get tickets for his West End shoe RIGHT NOW! Seriously. And then help me kidnap him.
Michael Franti and Spearhead- I'm still debating whether a cd would be anywhere near as good. I think so much of why this was so awesome is that he is a great live performer and there was so much great energy from the crowd.
Elliot Brood- Improperly classified as pyschobilly by the program, they're dark dark alt country and I love them

And, if you ever see a very lanky man in a giant jukebox singing songs about robots in love, spare some change. Not an official music part of the festival, my friend Curtis has an amazing art project with music and great costumes. Oh yeah, and a freaking huge jukebox.
