Summer So Far

Jul 28, 2005 22:57

So I've got less than two months before school starts (YAY) and I'm finally restless enough to make a new entry.

I've been watching way too many IFC/Sundance movies for my own good this summer, even though I love them to pieces.  But at some point creatively introspective tales of love, deceit and perversion start to wear one down.  And reading Bolgokov and Fitzgerald on top of that certainly make for some confusing dreams.

Anyway, July Orientation at SCU was a seller for sure (though, ever the critic, I would have changed a few things, and ever the shy, introverted egotist, I would have made a better effort at socialization--okay, I would have made an effort, period).  And got into the RLC/dorms I wanted, Loyola,

along with Scotty (yay!) and Brandon Ashby (...).  Me and the fam also got some time in Santa Clara (the town) which had more Korean restaurants I've ever seen.  I got to explore the campus thouroughly, where I met a professor's black lab Negra and a really pretty little fern in what I think will be one of many meditation (?) spots for me.  OOh yeah, and I got an SCU hoodie.

Plus,
  • XCP summer school is a pain in the ass (for brothers who have to pick up their sisters every flaming day)
  • I've got a nice tan
  • I got to watch two yorkies for a week (my first and likely last experience with live-in pets, despite their riduculous levels of cuteness)
  • Lots of new clothes
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince rocked my world (How many of you out there can claim you have both the American and British editions?  HBP is my number 2 behind Goblet of Fire [sorry, I can't help but love a blockbuster blueprint {btw, the movie is going to be fabu!}])
  • Gorillaz "Feel Good Inc." makes me want to wiggle my hips every time I hear it (Who can resist a baseline like that?)
  • Tour de France: Lance, the cycling haven in my heart will miss you dearly.  And though we've ordered OLN for the last three years for you just for the month of July, I have to admit, your domination was making the sport even more boring than it already was.  Seven was the lucky number, for sure.
  • With OLN, G4 reawakened my inner fanboy/tech geek with "Attack of the Show!" (which might be my new favorite hour or TV)
  • Pet Co. was nice (in the way that a baseball stadium should be) but I love San Diego, so Padres get free points
  • and I still haven't mailed my thank yous (for grad money, lol)
A good summer so far.
Cheers!
