art battle

yesterday was a big fucking hurry up rush rush get it done from the time i woke up until about 11 15 at night. I wake up at 11 after a night of bowling and steak and shake, to jesse on the phone, saying we gotta figure something out for this art battle. so i gather up all the art shit in my room, take a shower, grab a bite to eat and we go to miejers to get some paint. come back and pick up a table and chair from jesses, get ian, go to calder. come up with this sillouette idea, take a picture, blow it up in photoshop print the fucker out, gank a huge piece of cardboard for our canvas and peace the fuck out.
the shirts we send to the printers were ready, so we had to drive out to rockford to pick em up, we got lost a few times but we finally made it. this place we got them from, vltrashapes, was fucking awesome. it was a huge ass warehouse with boxes all over and big printing presses scattered around. a bunch of skaters work there and they printed shit for circa. so we go in and they are just chucking a football around this huge warehouse, over boxes, between presses. it was awesome. that is where i want to work this summer. so we pick up the shirts and they look awesome. it was crazy awesome to see something i made on my computer and drew by hand on 50 t shirts. so we drive down to the UICA to set up.
UICA is bumping when we get there. we drag all the shit out of jesses jeep. let me tell you, that fucking thing was packed to the brim, i had to hold the shirts on my lap on the way there, ian was just barely crammed in the back and the huge piece of cradboard was resting on our heads. we set up, meet jesses friend erin she was pretty cool. B-rad shows up, soldiering on with his newly pierced labret. set up ort cardboard, lay the big stencil out and start taping it down. cust some small stencils and try to get organized. 8 oclock, we start on the backround. the whole night flys by it was awesome. a bunch of people we knew showed up, everyone there was really cool, especially our nieghbors. we run around like chickens with our heads cut off. 10 oclock rolls around and we start the final bigass stencils. at 1045ish we start the most tedious shit ever, cutting a layer of cardboard out to make rays in the backround. barely finish, and set the motherfucker up. during the whole thing we sell shirts at random. voting is done, we sit around and talk to people, i feel like a truck hit me.
we don't finish top three, an ice scupture get first place($1000) and the giant black thing you can see in some of the pics got second or third. we hang out for a bit, clean up the huge mess we made, roll our stencils, pack, and load up. it was basically one of the coolest things i have ever done or seen.
