Well I have made a list of my less vanilla resolutions for the new year on Informed Consent, but I shall keep this clean for you lot.
- Get rid of television! I don't get enough done around the flat and a lot of projects have gone the way of neglect because I am constantly channel surfing until I find something interesting. Half the time I don't even care what I'm watching, it's just shiny noise tugging at my attention! So I have already cancelled my television licence and on the 1st of January I shall cancel the subscription to my cable provider. This resolution will also save me a few pounds a month. I shan't get rid of the idiot box, I shall keep it for playing DVDs and games on. But this won't take up so much of my time.
- Arts & Crafts. A few of my projects have been cast aside and I'm hoping the TV resolution will inject both time and cash into a few of them.
- Knitting. One of the things I would like to do is knit. So I have decided to knit myself a blanket for next winter. Big, purple and cosy. Looking at patterns now.
- Model Railway. This has been an ongoing thing and it's making headway. The track is laid and the trains run! I may need to lift some of the track though to fit junction motors. But the next major step is landscaping and ballasting.
- Cycling! This is one of those issues that I really need to deal with. I use to be a big cyclist. I loved just setting out on a ride and coming back 6 hours later. But then depression hit hard and I lost my job. Losing my job meant I had no reason to use the bike to commute and having no job meant I got depressed, that meant I didn't want to leave the house. I just wanted to mope around the flat watching television and surfing the internet! Generally avoiding life. So I have decided to get back in the saddle, make use of an exercise my bike to get my fitness and stamina back. Then I plan on some long healthy rides.
- Routine. I need to sort out a routine, my life is a tad up and down because I am unemployed. It means no routine. This will change with a regular routine. This may sound mundane and a tad dull but I think it affects me more than I know. The removal of television will mean I won't be planning my day around the TV schedule as well. I'm not sure what the routine will entail but I shant be anally rentetive about it. It will carry a degree of flexibility.
- Dental Hygiene. As disgusting as this sounds my teeth cleaning is shoddy because of the depression. I was barely looking at the toothbrush twice a week. This has led to my teeth basically rotting and that's just not good. So I shall strive to improve on this and try to repair some of the damage done. I already have had to have a very painful root canal and I don't plan on anymore. I also hope to get my teeth "restored" to something that doesn't look like some Grecian ruin! But that last one will cost money and is a future dream.
I think that's it for now. 2010 means a new me, literally! I even plan on getting out more as Nicola to more regular events and venues.
Shameless edit!
- Photography. I forgot to add photography. I have a decent enough camera and I want to make more use out of it.
