Yee Haw

It has been a busy two days! Yesterday (Friday) I had off from work... and what a beautiful day to take off, too! It was absolutely beautiful. High 70's, breezy... just perfect. Why can't all summer days be like this? T-shirt and capri weather?

At any rate, my first order of business was mailing in my Dewey Beach Registration and a check for two Thera-Paw boots for Cliff. Then, Dad, Mom, and Benny (their Pug puppy) came over to visit. Dad brought the huge ladder to help me take the second floor shutters off the house. As they came down, I brought them to Mom who washed them and began priming them. My job was holding the ladder for Dad and grabbing the shutters as he handed them down (then running them over to Mom). Dad got them all down in a couple hours, and Mom got most of them washed and about 5 primed. She really cranked!

It was great hanging with Benny too. He's such a funny little guy. One by one he brought all of Lucy and Clifford's stuffed animals outside. Then, in between me doing my shutter duties, I would throw them around the yard for him to fetch. He loved it and DIDN'T STOP. OMG, I am so not used to little bundle of energies! Cliff and Lucy will race around the yard a few times with their mouths around a stuffie, then drop it and take a snooze. Benny just played, played, played, played. Nonstop! And while Benny "pwayed", Lucy and Cliff slept like lights inside the house, LOL. They totally were not interested in hanging out with us and Benny the Butthole. :o)

Anyway, after Mom and Dad (and Benny) left I continued with the agonizing work of priming the shutters. When I say agonizing, I mean AGONIZING. Oh-my-God-will-this-ever-end-please-God-kill-me-now-agonizing. It was horrible but I got them ALL primed! To decompress, I took a nice slow around the block stroll with Lucy and then did a fast mile-and-a-half walk with Cliff. It was the perfect dusky evening for walkies, and we really enjoyed it.

Today was just as energetic. First, I accidentally set my alarm for 7:30 PM instead of 7:30 AM, so when I finally rolled over and opened my eyes at 8:20 AM, I almost had a heart attack. We had a Greyhound Walking Club hike at 9:30 in Liverpool!!! YIKES!!! I have never moved so fast in my life, LOL. Threw food down for the dogs, threw some clothes together, jumped in the shower, came out running, thew a box of cereal in the van, packed the dogs, and was out the door by 8:40. Not too shabby. We got to the West Shore Trail with 5 minutes to spare, and was greeted by quite a large group of greyhound people (I think this just goes to show that having a once a month walk instead of a once a week walk was the right decision).  The walk was really great. Both Lucy and Cliff had a wonderful time, and Lucy did swell with her booties, especially considering it was probably a two mile jaunt.  We got to see quite a few people we hadn't seen in awhile and had some great chats.

Let's see, after that the pups and I went to Trace's house. Andrew babysat while Bridge, Trace, and I went to the dump to get rid of some stuff, which was interesting, then we stopped at Burger King to eat. Ugh, the Veggie Burger was horrible! :o( I told them pickles and lettuce ONLY, but I also got a tomato and mayo. :o(  Then we got to see Trace's new house! It's almost done. We couldn't go inside since the floors were just polyeurothaned, but it was really cool to see anyway. It's really coming along. Afterwards... hmmm... I picked up the dogs and we went to the NYS Fairgrounds to drop off my Art Show entry for this year's Fair (you can read about it in my other Blog, here). That was also very awesome... I love seeing other people's artwork... so inspiring! Then... hmm... stopped at Mom and Dad's on the way home to pick up my old dog show grooming table (it is going to convert into a shutter painting table, LOL)... then went home... read a bit (halfway through a re-read of THE HISTORIAN by Elizabeth Kostova)... napped for about an hour in the sun... woke up with a raging headache... watched some TV... took some Tylenol PM... and here I am, 9:30, summing up the day.

I think that's it so I will sign off for the evening.

Later Gaters,

Jen
