Swing Vote     9 MBComedy about an apathetic, beer-slinging, lovable loser (Kevin Costner), who is coasting through a life that has passed him by. The one bright spot is his precocious, over-achieving twelve-year-old daughter. She takes care of both of them, until one mischievous moment on Election Day, when she accidentally sets off a chain of ( Read more... )

Heh. I love how the Jolie files are called "woman" and McAvoy's are "plankton".

I suspect that describes his character's position in the food chain before his transformation quite accurately. :D

I like the pace of these character trailers much better than the actual US trailer. I think I might dl the bigger versions and cap them. :)

Agreed. I think they should've used those instead of the second trailer. Though I suspect they will still be released in English in the coming weeks. It would be a pity if they didn't.

Millar. After his estranged father gets murdered, a cube-dwelling, disengaged slacker (McAvoy) gets recruited into a secret society of assassins. He gets trained by a woman (Jolie) who helps him to unlock his dormant powers.

OH! This sounds like a movie that will be the same thing for disengaged slackers that "Matrix" was for nerdy programmers. We all have dormant powers .. :D Looks pretty, however.

It's a similar target audience. :D

I don't know if you've seen any of the previous trailers, but the movie's directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the director of the Night/Day Watch movies. As can be seen by the strong use of special effects. ;)

Thanks for the look at The Edge of Heaven. I didn't know anything about the plot until now, just that I thought Head-On was so great I'd be seeing it for sure. And I hadn't realized there was any English spoken in it, either.

It's not easy to describe in a few words what the movie is about. I haven't seen the movie myself but since by now I'm somewhat familiar with your movie taste I'd say you should definitely give it a try. I'm also pretty sure that it is less intense as "Head-On" which I am sure you'll be pleased to hear. :)

Swing Vote: Cute. :)

Accidental Husband: But I *want* to like it! It has two male leads who I like! But you're so right about the chemistry. *sigh*

I like Kevin Costner. While there isn't any particular movie with him among my favourite movies, he's still more often than not a reason for me to watch a movie.

Sadly, it seems as if today it's easier to produce $100m+ special effects blockbusters (which can be nice too) than a good romantic comedy.
