first CATS rehearsal

Well, I just woke up after a long evening (meaning 3 hours or so) of the very first full Cats rehearsal. And let me just say that it was pretty much excellent. I mean, not only did we get to sing AND dance, but I've already met quite a few people - though many of them I can't remember their names, so I guess that doesn't help me much. But yeah, it was overall just pretty awesome.

We all gathered in this huuuuge circle in the Courtenay Little Theatre space (which is going to be awesome over the next month) and went around answering questions to get everyone to kind of meet one another. Then we formed smaller groups and chatted amongst ourselves for a wee bit while people moved the set from Maggie's Getting Married into the space (another play being put on at the Sid Williams).

After that, we started singing, seperated into groups. I reeeeally was not good at singing tonight though, due to extreme heat in the building, and the fact that I was v. v. v. tired. But y'know, I did my best, and I guess that's all that matters? I can sing either soprano or alto, but I picked soprano just because then you get to sing the main part that everybody knows - and if I attempt to sing a harmony, I just totally lose it. I've been too engrossed with the Cats film since I was ten to change what I sing now, man. Of course, I may end up being an alto, but that would make it so much more difficult for me, just because of harmonies.

The people playing the leads are going to be soooo great. And I say that entirely sincerely. Much to my surprise, I'm not actually jealous of them, and think that they're great for the roles they were given. Murray as Munkustrap = ♥

After a fun little break, we got on to the DANCING! Oh, and before that, Lori (who is doing the show) asked me to come back today to dance. So I guess I will either be a feature dancer or maybe not, depending on what's going on. Anyway, it's just gonna be fun today, and it's only for two hours luckily. We learned the beginning of the dance for Jellicle Songs For Jellicle Cats last night, and it was pretty cool. This guy named Adam was really nice and helpful when I got confused during one part, so I appreciated that.

Rehearsals let out a bit early, so that was also a nice surprise, considering that the room we were in was like 327849236567 degrees celsius. Meaning like...27. But that's not the point.

Since I was with Bobbi (who is also in the musical, and a good friend of our family), my mom took us to Dairy Queen to get some ice cream just cos we were basically dying of thirst and heat after running out of water bottles. And of course, once we got there, some dumbasses in the parking lot were getting into a fight. I knew a few of them from my school, so I was just like *facepalm*. And of COURSE, cos my mom's boyfriend lives in the olden days, he honked the horn and threatened to call the police. I just about died and thought they were going to come over and deal with us. I mean, c'mon, it's a fight. It's not even that big of a deal, especially in the DAIRY QUEEN parking lot. Hooooonestly.

Getting home was lovely, and I got to wear my Cats sweatshirt, which is the softest damn thing I have ever felt. Then I went to bed fairly early for me (1 AM or so) and had a grrreat sleep.

The end!
