Summary - they need each other to exist.
Notes - au, vague existentialism, drugs, implied sex
obscene beauty flickers in random blinking lights, flashes of color and sparkles and mist. they take turns inhaling bitter melon and honey and apricot mint because they shudder to think about tomorrow, where rows upon rows of soldiers and knights, armed ruthlessly with dark magic, fight and break hearts and souls and bodies.
they stumble, awkwardly, and touch each other, mumble and whisper like they have all the time in the world - they don’t - but pretending is much easier. their hands cling and wet, sweaty skin slap together and they’re tumbling everywhere and it’s a stirring revelation that they’re using each other in a fucked up sort of way.
they do, but they refuse to admit it.
in the grand scheme of things, they need each other to function: the brains, the heart, and the mighty courage. the only drawbacks in respective order: uncertainty, blind willingness, and overwhelming emotions.
some like to call these weaknesses.
the day wears out in a starburst of dwindling glory, and all together, they talk about nothing and everything -
- i’m alive, i’m alive, i’m alive -
- they convince themselves.
but in the haze of broken lights and pumping veins and hearts too loud and bodies light like a span of wings, they’re barely breathing.
